“Even nicer than we thought it would be!”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

We had a great time at the Atrium. It is an elegant, beautifully decorated, friendly, and clean hotel. There are a lots of different seating areas with beautiful views. Guests were from a number of other European countries which was good. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were excellent, as were the cocktails and drinks from the bar!
Pool area was great.
Platanias is a lovely place with a very good beach, lots of cheap tavernas that were laid back with a good selection of food.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Spectacular location, striking architecture, a great relaxation retreat. Not the cheapest hotel on Skiathos however well worth the money. Just oozes relaxation with guest enjoyment a priority. Many areas to retreat to to read, to enjoy a drink, to contemplate life. Buffet was delicious and staff were eager to please. A great place to leave commercialism and run of the mill tourism behind you. Can't recommend it enough

When we arrived we were given a very nice room but after using the bathroom it was obvioius there was a leak which appeared to be from the shower. We told reception who said they would get someone to look at it in the morning. We noticed later though that when we flushed the toilet more water apeared on the floor. We managed to mop it up after finding a mop and bucket in a cupboard nearby.
The following day after we arrived back in the afternoon and were told that someone had looked at it and had done a small repair and it wasn't leaking as much. All that had been done was a towel had been placed at the back of the bath and also when we flushed the toilet the floor flooded again. We went back to reception and asked if it could not be fixed could we move to another room. We were told this would not be possible as there was only a junior suite available and we already had been given a superior instead of a standard room. We asked to speak to the manager but were told she was not there. We were then told there was a standard room available - this was not as nice or as big but we felt we had no choice but to move. My husband later spoke to the manager who said that there were no other rooms available and we either stayed where we were or moved back to our first room.
With hindsight we realised we should have stayed in our first room as there were obviously other rooms vacant and we would have had to move us eventually due to the state of the floor .
The standard room we were moved to on the first floor was OK but as the hotel is on the main road it was very noisy from road traffic and the balcony was not very private.

Room Tip: Lower rooms appear to be noisier

Atrium hotel Skiathos has by all means the quality to be a five stars hotels. Highest recommendations for service, cleanliness, swimming pool, staff, food. We had a suite with swimming pool and apart from lacking DVD, everything met our demands at most. We will be back for sure, maybe even 2012.
Very, very nice.

Room Tip: Atrium hotel best choice when in Skiathos

Our family had a wonderful stay here. The property is beautifully designed - a contemporary hotel, but with a very Greek feel with the extensive stonework. Greek beds are not what Americans usually expect from a hotel, so just be aware that they will be different! Breakfast buffet is extensive and changes slightly daily - very good, too! The hotel staf is very friendly and competent in many languages. The bus around the island makes many beaches accessible without a car andthe bus stop is easily walkable from the hotel, but the bad thing is that it is a bit dangerous walking along the roadway. It is a bit of a walk down to the public beach (along that road again, or down a rather steep path), but the beach is lovely - sunbeads and bar service.
Wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms with private pools are gorgeous.

We chose Atrium hotel after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. It's centrally located on the southern coast and with the excellent bus service this gives easy access to the other resorts, from Skiathos Town to Koukanaries. There are some excellent walks from the bus stops over to the North coast, well worth the effort.
Access to the hotel can be tricky for the less mobile, there is a hill from the resort (Platanias) and several flights of stairs to reach the upper levels, although there is a lift to reception and the upper levels . The hotel is built on a hillside and rises to seven floors, the pool (excellent) is on the sixth and the view from here is fabulous.
There are a number of very comfortable sitting rooms for guests (and quite a few books in English, so save your luggage allowance), one with a balcony that looks out over the sea.
Although I've stayed in more luxurious rooms, the Atrium's are very comfortable and the standard of cleanliness is first class. The staff are very friendly.
I've read negative reports about the food but we found that there was a quite wide variety of foods available at the breakfast buffet, although not a lot of choice of hot food but, on holiday it's nice to to try something different (excellent yoghurt and fresh fruit). We didn't try the evening menu but found some really nice Tavernas (try Kochyli Taverna, near to the bus stop. Not the most kerb appeal but great food and a very friendly host. We rate it)
Overall, would I go back, yes, as long as I'm able to climb stairs. Although, it has to be said that a little gentle exercise after eating is no bad thing. The design of the hotel is superb and the views from the rooms just gorgeous. Add to that friendly staff and a very convenient location and why would we go anywhere else? It's surprising how many of the guests were repeat visitors.

Room Tip: Go for the highest level you can.

on arrival, staff very friendly. Hotel nice, clean and decor very good. Lots of steps but ok for us. Beds very hard! Also pillows hard! Had to use soft cushion from couch all week. Breakfast from 7.00am to 10.00am but if you arrive anywhere after 9.00am, everything seems to run out. Only one coffee pot in dining room which was constantly being emptied. Cups constantly running out and fruit disappeared immediately that it was put out! There just did not seem to be enough to cater for all guests. Rooms were very nice, ours was large and on the second floor. The ones over looking the sea did suffer from traffic noise from the road below. Remote control for TV did not work but staff did promptly provide new batteries upon request. However, air conditioning also did not work once it was made available on 1.6.11, as this was towards the end of our holiday, we did not raise this problem. Room was cleaned each day very well and clean towels were provided every day. Overall, I would recommend this hotel but would seriously warn that the beds are indeed the hardest ones that I have come across, even for Greece. We did enjoy our holiday enormously and a MUST is a visit to the Dog Sanctuary in Troulos; this indeed made our holiday!

Room Tip: A room above 2nd floor for less road noise
