“BEWARE!!!”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

There is not a single positive thing to mention about this hotel although i am Greek! You better (Greek or foreigner)avoid staying here!
ROOM:Dirty spotted pillows,Matress will swallow you in,bath toiletries not refilled,We had to ask for clean towels each and every time!
PERSONNEL:Very rude and the room service (this was outrageous) entered room while we were in bed without even knocking!!!!!!!
POOL:Dirty with hair and leafs of trees,no towels provided, expensive pool bar.
WiFi:Very poor signal
BREAKFAST:Very poor,i was sick of asking for everything that was finished an hour ago!
RATE:Very expensive for what this hotel offers you (paid 90euros per day)!!!We got fooled by hotel photos which are a fake!!
This is definitely NOT a 3 star hotel!!We were 2 couples staying there and had the worst experience ever!

Compared to its price, the service and amenities do not live up to expectations. I am sure it would make a difference if we had a sea view room on a higher floor with a shower that would work properly, but it is understandable that not all guests can have THE best room, especially when booked last minute. However, we had to ask many times at the reception for several things (to refill shampoos, why the fridge was not working etc.).The room looks a lot like the photos on the web, but the touch and feel of sheets and towels is not soft and nice. Note that no room has a double bed, which in many hotels is not a problem but the way the twin beds are, is a bit inconvenient. Also there is an unpleasant smell coming out of the bathroom; the hotel has attempted to minimize it with the use of an automatic deodorant –not very efficient though-.
Breakfast is average, again compared to the price.
What is amazing, is the beach of Agia Paraskevi, 3’ walk from the hotel, fully organized and equipped, as most if not all beaches on the island.
The proximity of the bus station is very good (3’ walk) and the hotel is located approximately 15’ from Skiathos town. Do not miss Koukounaries beach and Banana beach if you like the cosmopolitan and lively rhythm of summer.
All in all, the island is an amazing choice, the hotel is not bad but there must be better ones at this price.

We have just returned from Skiathos were we stayed at Hotel Arco. We booked through Booking.com and we had seen the reviews on Tripadvisor prior to our booking. The pictures of the hotel you can see in Booking.com are very good...too good:o) The hotel is not as fancy as it looks in the pictures: it's small and simple, nothing glamourous. But it's fine and clean. The pool is nice and clean too but the water is hot and not refreshing at all!
We were 2 adults, 2 teens and 1 child and had a family suite which was perfect (2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 1 terrace with sea view, 2 televisions, 1 minibar) the air conditionning was working perfectly but we experienced some problems with the WiFi. The breakfast is nothing special. The location is great, 80 m from a very nice beach. The staff is not friendly at all.

Very few Brits staying here but we did! LOCATION: Ideal, bus stop 350mtrs all on the flat. SEA VIEW which we had does not get the sun on balcony. AIR CON: fantastic and much appreciated! SAFE: Disappointed that we had to pay 2 euro a day. Lets face it, in England this would be included in the cost of any 4* hotel. HAIRDRYER - excellent. The so called toiletries were never refilled so take your own. POOL AREA: very nice, plush furnishings - pool bar expensive! ROOM: adequate with mini fridge but no double bed!. CLEANERS - well, they change, but believe me, the floors are never mopped. We stayed 2 weeks and if there had been a mop we would have cleaned it ourselves. LINEN - excellent frequently changed and fresh fluffy towels every day. BREAKFAST - well this I must say leaves a lot to be desired. Little choice, cold hot plate, no crockery half of the time. Was rather fed up of having to ask for hot water, bowls, cutlery, milk even tea bags etc - this did improve as time went on and another member of staff appeared to help the young girl who had been overworked and run off her feet working all alone. Lessons need to be learned here to bring this hotel up to standard. However, perhaps this hotel which has great potential will be available to Brits via a decent tour operator in the future and listed as a 3 star basic hotel in good location. Overpriced in our opinion. Not worth 4 stars.
PARASKEVI resort has about 10 tavernas and regular bus service to and from everywhere. 3 supermarkets too but don't expect shops. You have to venture into Skiathos town. BEST TAVERNA: Pegasus near the bus stops down a side track for about 80 metres - wonderful. BEST BEACHES - Koukanaries and Troulos.

Arco hotel has the advantage of being on the sea side of the street, 150 feet to the beach and it was renovated in 2007. It has given itself 4 stars, but on the Greek hotel websites, it is rated by customers as a 3 star hotel It is not in the lsame eague as the upscale Skiathos Princess, Palace, or even the Atrium , but it wants to charge like they do. The service is spotty. The owners are terrible, surly, rude and it is clear they do not give a rip, except to take your money. The hired staff are great: gracious, friendly and hard working. The air conditioning works well, but the power goes out often. WiFi is reliable only in the lobby. Parking is free. The swimming pool is not clean. Bar and restaurant are tolerable. But it is lovely to have a glass of wine in the garden as the sun sets over the water. If you pay $75-80/night for double occupancy, including breakfast, this is a value. If you pay more, it is a ripoff.

When you can't find published rates, even online, it is usually a sign the owners wants to size you up to figure out the maximum you will pay. We pulled in at 11:30 pm because of a reservation mix up at another hotel. They overcharged us. But, the air conditioning worked but on our second night leaked water all over a book, the beach was 150 feet from the hotel, breakfast was included and the staff was dutifully surly. The rooms are recently renovated but Greeks still have not figured out how to install odor traps in bathrooms. The swimming pool was never cleaned during our stay so was filled with debris from the eucayptus trees that abound on the property. Wifi was unreliable. We lost electrical power twice in three days, and on the third day, we were asked to leave our room for another one, down the hall, that was smaller. I experienced worse in Greece but that was 30 years ago and I paid $10/night.

Very good hotel with all the rooms renewed. Very convenient if compared to the low price. Breakfast nothing special
Good location near a beach and a nice taverna (Jimmy's), 5 km from the centre

The pictures in the hotel website are very truthful
