“Great Restaurant”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Have stayed here twice before unfortunately didn't manage to book here this year and stayed in another studio which was ok but not a patch on the cleanliness and comfort of the Prekas. During our weeks stay we visited here twice for our evening meal and were not disappointed. The restaurant remains as good if not better, Nikos is as lovely and Maria's food excellent. Both times that we were there for a meal we met other couples who were returning to holiday there again as well, what better recommendation do you need !! I will definately not be leaving it so long to book for next year to make sure I can stay here again.

Just returned from a great week at The Prekas. I agree with most of the previous comments - it's basic but very clean and in a beautiful, peaceful location, up a lane. We had beautiful weather and there was plenty of room around the pool. (Only a few very small children due to the timing of the holiday.) Word of warning - the Prekas (and many other small studios) aren't accessible by coach. Our luggage was transported to the door, but we weren't! We were dropped off on the main road - blind bends, no pavement etc and pointed in the general direction. It was only a 10 minute walk, but no good if you have walking difficulties are are getting on in years. We hardly saw Maria but Nikos was pleasant- if a man of few words! His English is far better than our Greek though - so can't complain. Lovely lunches at the Calma, and very nice atosphere, though we didn't eat there at night. There are some really nice tavernas on the lane and along the main road and the beach is lovely. Two sun beds and a shade for 8 euro and that includes two free drinks. The bus goes from Skiathos town (Stop 0) down to Koukounaries (Stop 26). Aghia Paraskevi is stop 16, so no bus trip takes more than 15 minutes and is very cheap. There wasn't a huge amount to do in Skiathos, but that's the point really! Lovely to relax and have some nice meals and the occasional boat trip perhaps. No rowdy stag groups or anything like that. We thought most of the people we saw were 40+, but that may be because it was term-time. Would definitely recommend the Prekas as a good base.

Room Tip: We had a West facing room (facing the lane) Room 12, first floor. Lovely sunny balcony for afternoon...

Holiday june/july 2012 had a fantastic relaxing quiet holiday really loved it . The pool area nice and quiet and when we were there, there were no children - bonus. The accommodation was basic but clean/comfortable had most of what you needed. The restaurant was lovely ate there a few days/nights. Maria's cooking demonstrations very good, bought her cookbook and got the family to sign it for me.
Family are very friendly and helpful.
Would definitely holiday here again.

Room Tip: Great for relaxing quiet holiday

Stayed at the Prekas for 10 nights in September and booked after reading the positive reviews on TripAdviser.
Although basic which is what you'd expect in Greece the property was spotless and set down a quiet lane. There was always room by the pool although the water was rather chilly but ok once you got used to it and as for the sunbeds we did not have a problem with them, clean and comfortable.
I agree with others re the uncomfortable mattresses, poor hubby had to swap after the first night as his was less lumpy than mine!
The only other negative about the Prekas would be lack of soundproofing and the walls between the studio's balconies were low so there was no privicy
Some people have said that the owner Nikos is not very friendly but he was always polite and helpful, I think he may be quite a shy person which some might mistake for being miserable. He should be very proud of his family and it was heartwarming to see the way they all worked together in the restaurant.
Tips:
Best place to eat: Green Park (Calma 2nd)
Beaches: all good, 8 euros a day for 2 sunbeds and parasol wherever you go
Trip: Cassandra boat trip to Alonnisos and Skepalos booked direct at the harbour 15 euros each
Night out: Skiathos town, buzzing but safe
Will definitely be going back to Skiathos and would recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

Just returned from rain swamped skiathos :-( . There is no doubt that the Island is very beautiful and I would like to go again ...however never again in September, but I suppose that is the risk that we took.(3 days sun in a week)

We stayed at the Prekas studios following good reviews here on Trip advisor, and overall we were very happy, but I would say that the rooms are very basic (yes I know its Greece) but to the point that they were featureless and uncomfortable especially if you were 'rained ' in for any length of time.

The beds were awful, so if you have a bad back think twice ..they are in need of new ones, however We were very impressed with the housekeeping - the rooms were always spotless.

The studios are advertised as self catering, Id say that was pushing it , and although I didn't have any real intention of cooking I didn't really have a choice. This could be misleading to people, especially with children who may not be able to afford to eat out all of the time ....so a toaster would have been a preferred choice rather than the television that didn't work .

The restaurant however was brilliant, and to be honest we never strayed away from it as the prices were comparable with others in resort.

The quality of food that Maria produces is fabulous, Nikos is so utterly lovely even though he doesn't say a lot, Id agree with other comments on here, he understands English better than he can speak it- how many of us make the effort to speak Greek??

All in all, had the sun been shining it is a perfect chill out holiday for couples as there doesn't seem to be that much for children to do

I do feel that the rooms need bringing up to date and that is my only criticism (did I mention it rained lots )

Other than that, lovely .

Just come back from a weeks stay at Prekas Studios, very clean and staff very pleasant and helpful. Beds made everyday, clean linen and towels. Lovely and quite just down the road from the beach. We ate in the Restaurant four nights out of the seven and the food and service was excellent. Beds could be better. Overall fab

Just back from 11 nights at the Prekas Studios. Firstly I would like to say that we found Nikos a lovely man. He understands English better than he can speak it and I think people see his concentration as being off hand. Spend some time to talk to him clearly and you'll find he is ever so polite. The apartments are typically Greek, basic but have everything you need. We don't really see everyone's issue with no toaster as the attached Calma restaurant serves breakfast including toast. The apartments are exceptionally clean. The pool is very chlorinated but I have found this typical of other places I have stayed in skiathos. The only downside we could find is the beds are horribly uncomfortable, very lumpy you could feel every spring. We got around this by putting the bedspreads on the mattress. We would definfinitely go back

Room Tip: We had room 5. Maybe the beds in other rooms are ok
