We spent a week in this cottage for a family break. We wanted somewhere well placed for access to things like the National Railway Museum, North York Moors Railway, Jorvik Centre, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Haworth and plenty more: Yew Tree Cottage, being around 30 minutes away from York fulfilled all those requirements. It's a really comfortable cottage; the owners seem to have thought of virtually everything, and despite the fact that the weather was very cold we were always warm and cosy. The open fire and woodburner were a particular bonus, as was the lovely welcome hamper. We want to come back later in the year when things like Kirkham Abbey and Castle Howard are open.
Myself and 4 friends spent two nights here at the beginning of February and we couldn’t have asked for any more. The cottage is absolutely stunning, the owners have furnished the place perfectly and it has everything you could ever need and more. The welcome hamper was an even more lovely touch with delicious sweat treats and coffee, eggs and bacon for us for breakfast. The bottle of wine went down very nicely too!
The cottage is very well located too, a few yards from a lovely local pub and very central for some great walks.
It was the perfect place for us all to catch up and spend time together - thank you so much! Will definitely be back :-)
This is one of the best cottages I have stayed in. Westow is a little bit out of York and has a few narrow lane ways to navigate but Yew Tree Cottage was a delight. Renovated to an excellent standard with lots of thoughtful additions - a welcome hamper including wine, cake, coffee, bacon and eggs; well stocked wood pile, toiletries, candles, etc. Walking distance from two great pubs - Blacksmiths arms a stones throw and the Stone Trough Inn near Kirkham Abbey. The Cottage itself was spacious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable for our family (2 Adults and three growing teenage boys) Thoroughly recommend for a North Yorkshire stay
This cottage is out of this world. Everything has been thought of, the attention to detail is amazing.
It literally felt like it was our home. Will 100% be returning.
Little note: The pub/restaurant a few doors down is lovely, unfortunately we needed a table for 12 but they couldn't accommodate us but they suggested that we could make an order and take our plates down to the pub and they would plate up our food and we could take it back to the cottage, brilliant idea .
Perfect location as you are not far from York but also close enough to the coast to visit areas such as Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay.
Gorgeous cottage with lots of character-spacious but still cosy with a lovely wood burner which we used each evening.
Perfect for families, child friendly, with lots of extra amenities which you often need with young children.
Will definitely recommend and look to return!
I can't praise this cottage enough, gorgeous Interior, very very clean and comfortable. Everything you could need has been thought out and added to the cottage for a truly wonderful stay. It's ideally located in a quaint little village with everything a short drive away, York, whitby, Filey etc. If you book this cottage you really won't be disappointed.
This cottage is one of our favourites, hence the return visit! It is very well equipped, cosy and decorated to a high standard, plus there is a very welcome hamper on arrival. The Blacksmiths Pub, almost next door, does great food and is a bonus to have on your doorstep after a day exploring the surrounding area. The cottage is in a great location for visiting the area around Castle Howard and the coastal areas of Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay - plus there are two Michelin star restaurants within half an hours drive, The Star Inn at Harome and The Black Swan at Oldstead. What's not to like!
