We've been going to the Ox for over 6 years now, and we live in Leeds, which is a 45 mile journey for us (but a good drive!). The food quality has never dipped, always been the same every time we visit even though the menu choices have changed - although the favourites remain. This is high quality restaurant food, not the run of the mill gastro pub which is reflected on how we first found it - on the good food guide and the telegraph top 50 places to eat outside of London.
We've also stayed in the cottages several times and the cleanliness and whole experience is worth it, the breakfast is high quality matching the food served during lunch/evening.
I would recommend the gourmet menu for 2 (not for the light eater - plenty to get through!), the rib eye, batted haddock, cheese board, and scallops to pick out a few things, although your likely not to go wrong with any of the menu items.
