In the Averyon, near Millau but essentially in the middle of nowhere ugh is this unassuming restaurant that serves the sort of French lunch that you weren't sure existed. All are seated at 1215 and a a steady flow of traditional 'family' cooking follows: some amuses bouches - an exquisite mousse line of mushrooms, then a foie gras (homed made of course), perfectly cooked cod on a creamy bed of mustardy leeks, the a huge platter of veal, baed potato, tomato and celeriac, creme caramel, sorbet - not forgetting a n excellent cheese platter. At 3.30 we left happy and satisfied - all for E45/head including plentiful good local wine. DO book, and don't be misled from the exterior - it really is that good!
