Tucked away in quiet golden bay is this well preserved brewery and bar with a luscious gbarden and hospitable atmosphere. Nestled in the bushes along the main road you will need to keep your eyes open otherwise you might miss it. Great range of own brewed beer and ciders both on tap and in unlabled bottles, yes they re-use them. we passed through just as they open for lunch which was probably our biggest misstake. This is a pub where you should book accommodation and spend a whole night going through the range of beverages, boardgames and books they've got to offer. Oh and I should mention that I don't drink beer but the freckled frog feijoa cider and it tasted as far from frog as you can come!

Went for lunch and had the mussels which were delicious as usual. Steamed in wine and you get about 20 mussels for $12 (price might have changed). My hubby loves the beer made there and there are a number of quirky names - Pale Whale Ale, Captain Cooker, etc. I always go for the non alcoholic and love both the Lemming Aid and the Ginger Beer. Other dishes on the menu we have tried and although a limited selection it is great. Other times we have been in the evening and enjoyed the entertainment and we often check their website to find out what is on when we are in the area.

A very well known and frequented, quirky restaurant bar with live music often. This is not a gourmet restaurant but very basic with excellent mussels, of course!

Raining so decided to break our journey to enable my husband to try the beer. He enjoyed both 'jars'. I stuck with a coffee and a most delicious carrot cup cake (it was late morning) Place very 'quirky' and that includes the staff!

On Sunday night of Labour Weekend the place was humming. great selection of local beers. The paddle is the best way to go so you can try them all-must order some of the dark ale. Good sized meals. Scallops were superb, but the steak wasn't fillet as advertised-looked like rump. None the less a very pleasant evening by the fire.
