We stayed as a family of four (kids aged 6 and 8) for a one week break in February. The cottage is now a 3 bed and although we didn't use the third room it does represent excellent value for money.
What's great: Lots! The cottage is a real home from home. Open fire (wood is all pre chopped and well stocked in the under cover barn area.) Large lounge with sky (English) tv and patio doors opening out to lovely views. The kitchen is brilliantly stocked with a large table and more patio doors from which you can watch a constant scene of bird feeding from the feeders on the lawn. The place is well kitted out with a washing machine, large fridge and freezer and even a good quality radio in the kitchen! Bedrooms are well sized with quality bedding. The tended lawns and courtyard area give the place a sense of grandeur whilst still retaining the rural feel.
What's not so great: there really isn't anything to grumble about here!
Be aware of: This is a rural setting so great for walks and a 5 min drive to the local village Sartilly (super market open until 7, pizza place, bakers, butchers, pharmacy and cafe/bar.) Beyond that it's a 10-15 min drive to points of interest. The beaches are 10 mins away and excellent. Granville the nearest town is good for shops and cafés and we would highly recommend the Picorrette for an eye watering range of teas and stunning desserts.
Nice touches: Chilled cider, milk in the fridge and tea and coffee stocked for arrival was a lovely surprise! You will also find over 200+ DVDs plus games and shelves of books - including several rick stein cookery books! The huge bins of bird seeds and nuts to restock the feeders was a big hit with the children.
Overall: We would highly recommend the cottage. Even the most experienced travellers would find elements of surprise at just how homely it feels.
