We first went to Lane's last Autumn to celebrate my husband's birthday. This place is a real find. It feels upmarket with it's spacious interior, big bar area and lovely setting. However it is down to earth, family run and friendly. The menu is good and serves up traditional food well. The choice is good. Portion sizes are fair and a three course meal leaves you feeling satisfied and yet not too full. The food is presented well and prices are very reasonable. Our last meal was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had 3 courses each, pre dinner drinks and wine with our meal and it came in at £80 which is really good value. Starters and puddings are about £5 and mains come in at £10-£15 which is superb value. Wine isn't expensive and you can get a decent bottle for well under £20. The dining room is spacious and even when quiet has a good atmosphere. The place feels special and smart yet relaxed and appears to cater for all ages. The staff are really pleasant and efficient. They keep and eye on you but are not intrusive. The restaurant is part of a hotel so after dinner you can stroll in the lovely gardens or play pool or just sit in the big lounge and read or chat. The bottom line is that Lane's offers a really good dining experience on many levels: These are the prices, choice of food, quality and presentation of food, service and setting. The only disappointing meal we've ever had was a Sunday lunch when service was a bit slow. Evenings however have always been superb. It's a great place for a quiet meal or a larger celebration and great to have on our doorstep.

This is a lovely hotel and the view and gardens are outstanding.
Food is not the cheapest but you wouldn't expect that for the quality you receive.
The server was slightly off with us, maybe having an off moment.
Would visit again but would need to be for a special occasion due to the cost

We dined in the restaurant on a Friday evening. We choose the tapas menu, ordering all the items from the tapas menu together with another from the main menu. I feel that £2.50 for four prawns to be a bit steep also literally one bite each of some of the other tapas. Our prawns were returned to the kitchen as they appeared to be undercooked and had not had the vein removed. It is probably time for the main menu to be changed, there were a couple of specials but the fish special was not available. A few years ago Lanes was always a special venue for dinner, their standards seem to be slipping. Come on Lanes up your game, your venue and spa are great but the food needs some attention.

We dined in the restaurant here, lovely surroundings, excellent food, and charmingand attentive waiting staff.

All seemed very good.........until the restaurant manager (Alison?) burst into a voluble tirade of abuse to one of the (lovely and efficient) waitresses.

Owner / Management - take some advice and get rid of this individual - extremely unprofessional and an absolute 'blot on your landscape'.

To quite unnecessarily berate a member of staff in public is disgraceful.
