“A lovely weekend”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Tinca and Roberta are lovely, and they have created a really quaint, eccentric place where it is a lot of fun at which to stay. The food is really sublime. They make an effort to take care of their guests in a lovely way (e.g. they made sure there that our room fire was still going when we came back very late from dinner).

It's not quite a 5 star rating though as there were a few very minor things which need attention, mainly around maintenance - the bathroom door handle came off during our stay, the bathroom had several cobwebs and the shower drain was very slow which led to you standing in about 5 or 6cm of water at the end of a shower. However if they sort these really minor points out, it is a lovely place to stay and really would get a 5 rating from us. We also only gave a 3 star rating for sleep quality because we are two big boys and we struggle in double beds - but that may not be an issue for most people and for us at least there was also a sofa bed.

What you will love about this place though is how chilled everyone and everything is - nothing is an issue, and everyone is just relaxing and having a good time - and you fall into that vibe very quickly, it's lovely.

Beautiful rural location close to the village of Niguelas (which is well worth a walk up to, such narrow streets!). This is a most unusual hotel/bar/restaurant and needs to be experienced to be appreciated! There are basically three parts to it: firstly the original Mill house on the roadside, which accommodates the bar, restaurant, and some bedrooms. A steep footpath leads up from this to the second part: which is an 'al fresco' bar/restaurant. And the third part is a line of bedrooms created from former outbuildings and set behind a colonnade. All around are gardens and lawns and and ornamental stream, a small barn (presumably used for functions), a small swimming pool, and a number of seating clusters. We had a room in the converted outbuildings (see photos) with sitting area, comfortable bed, and en suite shower to which was a unique domed ceiling (water not very hot, but I am sure that this was just a temporary blip).

The 'al fresco' bar/dining area has a menu for diners, but they basically seem to to cook up whatever you want, provided they have the ingredients.

The restaurant (there is also an outside seating area) has a rather uninspiring menu which belies the delicious food it produces from home or locally produced ingredients using traditional recipes - the almond soup was delicious, as indeed were our main courses of lamb cutlets and Chicken Nazan. And we found the local wine is very drinkable (hic!).

There is plenty of parking, much of it covered.

Myself & my husband stayed here for a long weekend at the end of September. The only thing that was not brilliant was the weather! Which is quite unusual for this area.
If you're looking for a quiet retreat, that is typically Spanish with good food & amazing views, then this is for you. At the foothills of Sierra Nevada it's within easy reach of snow & beach with a car!
Tinca, Mercedes, Roberta & Manou (sorry if names are spelt wrong!) are all very attentive & happy to help with anything to make your stay better. The food is delicious and they are happy to make you something that isn't on the menu, the tapas are in abundance! The showers have a very Moorish theme and are lovely, but do end up getting everything soaking in the bathroom! Or it was just us!
Granada is only half an hour away in the car and also worth a visit.
They have some beautiful horses on site & also some gorgeous dogs that have had an awful life but now are being very looked after.
All in all a lovely trip, I'd say more for adults than children, but that in mind, children did visit for lunch etc.
thank you for a relaxing, well fed stay!

My 15 month old daughter and I spent a week at Alqueria de Los Lentos and totally fell in love with the place!
Super friendly staff, delicious food with a creative menu based on home grown and locally sourced produce; wonderful surroundings of a lush and well maintained garden with the stunning backdrop of the Sierra Nevada.
Our room was really clean, cosy and well thought out with the most incredible shower featuring a domed roof, beautiful tiles with small glass panels smattered amongst them to let in the daylight. Absolutely stunning!
We admired many paintings, photos and sculptures created by local artists and couldn't help but to buy a painting by Roberta Gordon-Smith as a memento of our special trip.
Scarlett, my toddler adored the numerous dogs and was very well entertained by the staff when she got bored of my company.
An amazing place that I would wholeheartedly recommend and we look forward to returning!

Ideally situated close by to Niguelas, The Alqueria Los Lentos or The Mill as it is known locally is a place of character and rural charm comprising Spanish traditional with a modern vibe. Monogrammed linen & towels lend an extra something to the hotel rooms and the generous wood burners provide cosy comfort for a winter visit.

El Rincon, the garden bar/restaurant is decorated with much creativity and flair, providing an alternative, relaxing space to 'chill-out' with tasty dishes and eclectic sounds. It is an ideal party venue with an attractive ambience and a friendly, Spanish speaking team headed up by Tinka & Roberta.

Think of a place divided in 2, but still a whole.

When eating, if you want traditional Andalusian food, go to the Alqueria de Los Lantos bar - the old property at the front. Have eaten here several times, always great food!

For a more laid back vibe, complete with British owners (don't let that put you off), go to the top of the property and try El Rincon. Offering a modern twist on Spanish/European food, accompanied by chilled sounds, casual sofas, this is a place to relax for the day/evening.

Perfect!
