“An amazing place to stay”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

If you wish to stay in a period building then this is the place for you. High ceilings, period furniture, lovely grounds, ample car parking all feature here. Breakfast is a treat with a selection of breads, fresh fruit and home made yoghurt. There is a lovely salon to sit in with piano and comfortable chairs. We dealt with the owner who could not do enough to make our stay a pleasure. We stayed in the grande suite consisting of two double bedroomed rooms and a shared ensuite bathroom, ideal for a family.

My wife found this 18th century chateau on the internet and booked 3 days stay for our anniversary. We were certainly not disappointed. We were warmly greeted by Mdme and shown to a lovely room (the blue room) with period furnishings. The breakfast couldn't have been bettered - breads, croissants, home made jams and yogurt with orange juice and hot drinks. We are already planning how to arrange another visit in the near future.

We stayed for 2 nights in March and although there's not much to do in the area, the hotel made our holiday. It was an amazing find an absolutely beautiful building. We were given a choice of rooms and had the use of the living room, which was complete with piano and period furnishings. We stayed in the 'white room' on the ground floor, overlooking the garden. The room was spotless and the attention to detail was amazing. Our french was extremely limited and although our host didn't speak much English, she was so helpful and polite. The breakfast was also great value and great setting. Compared to many other hotels in the area, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. Friendly, beautiful, romantic and a great find!!

I was not sure what to expect, it was a delight! Warm welcome by the hosts of this very different B&B. I was taken to the Beige Room, large and warm, very comfortable with views over the extensive garden. The bathroom was large, plenty of natural light, spa bath and an array of candles on offer for atmosphere. There is a very large sitting room on the ground floor with a good selection of local information. Breakfast was served in the breakfast room, local croissant, pain au chocolat, bread. Home made yoghurt, fresh strawberries, home made preserves & excellent coffee. I will certainly return before too long to this lovingly restored house

We stayed at Castel des Anges because we're regular visitors to Montreuil-sur-Mer and wanted something a little different. About 7km south of M-S-M the 'Castel' has a grand facade and a spectacular welcome. Monsieur and Madame both contributed to our enjoyment of the stay by their attention to detail and the high standards of accommodation and food. We only stayed one night, but I would definitely stay again, and for longer. The room was spotless, light and airy, and the bathroom luxurious in size and amenities. Breakfast was delicious - excellent coffee (and we're fussy about our coffee chez nous) and home-made yoghurt. Pastries light and tasty. Madame was very helpful about outings away for the day, and forgiving of our fractured French. We are planning a return visit and wholeheartedly recommend the Castel to you.

On our recent trip to Montreuil-sur-Mer in early-February we had been looking for a new, more inviting and homely place to stay. We believe that we found it at the Castel des Anges. It is only 7km from Montreuil and has an excellent restaurant within walking distance nearby.
The owners of the castel gave us a warm welcome when we arrived and made us feel very much at home. Although the exterior of the property suggests faded grandeur, the interior rooms have been restored with sufficient respect for the property’s heritage having been tastefully decorated and brought up to modern accomodation requirements.
We stayed in La chambre Bleue which was cosy, light and spacious having been restored in keeping with the period details of the property. This room faces the front of the hotel so there is some road noise but a good evening out and the fatigue of our travels rapidly put that concern quickly to rest. The room was very clean and, it being cold at that time of year, well-heated and there was ample hot water for the generous bath in the en-suite bathroom.
We enjoyed the breakfast in the classical dining room with its splendid ceiling and despite its somewhat dominating fireplace. We were given a generous serving of pastries & bread in addition to cheese, home made jam and yogurt and a serving of fruit.
We will definitely stay again. It is worth noting that you should not arrive at the Castel des Anges before 5pm as it only opens at that time.

Stayed here for two nights with another couple. We were warmly greeted by the owner, a lovely, friendly lady. The rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious as is the bathroom. There was plenty of hot water available for baths.Breakfast is really good offering a great selection of breads, jams, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice and coffee. Free wi fi is available downstairs. I highly recommend this B & B and would definitely stay there again.
