We took this boat ride not knowing what to expect. Before we even started we were surrounded by a great flock of Blue-footed Boobies which was feeding in the harbor. Just being there for this spectacle was worth far more than the price of admission.
Although the island hike was a bit anticlimactic (no sharks) we did see an iguana swimming.
We then snorkeled which was fabulous as we were amongst sea turtles, sea lions and penguins in the water. At one point our guide lead us to the mangroves where we were able to watch a Frigate bird.

To go to Las Tintoreras you need to have a certified guide. Probably paid too much at $70 but we got a lot. About a 10 min boat ride. Then a 45 guided walk through the island seeing a hearing about the marine iguanas, birds and crabs. There are hundreds of iguanas, The sharks were not there, which sometimes happens. At the end we did snorkling. This was unbelieable. Besides the fish we had sea lions and penguins swinging around us. The we were next to a really really big sea turtle. What an experience. Tips - wear sturdy sandles for walkiing across lava stones, plenty of sunscreen, bottle of water, swim suit,

Snorkel with sea lions and penguins... need I say more? There are also white tip sharks and great blue herons in the small lagon there. The island has countless marine iguanas on it. Its a very close ride from the main land.

my tour was very informative about the wildlife and we saw a lot of wild life including: penguins, fish, sea lions, blue footed boobies and many iguanas. the tour starts from the port and takes ten minutes to get to the island. After that we got off to see the white tip reef sharks and the sea lions. finally we went snorkelling which was fascinating and we saw many wonderful fish and star fish.
