I did a 2 hour morning walk before breakfast and went out as far as the lava cave and the Playa del Amor. The beach at low tide is spectacular and had plenty of shorebirds. Near the end there were lots of marine iguanas. There are quite a few little side tracks to beaches and lagoons which may have flamingos and other lagoon birds. First thing in the morning is great since it is cooler and not so sunny. Best at low tide also. I took the beach out and the road back.

We rode bicycles to the entrance then walked into the area of the Wall of Tears. It is tough to visualize the cruelty of the guards who tortured the prisoners to build a giant wall for no reason. The only tools were their muscles and their grit. The result is incredible but how many lives were lost or ruined by the heat, worthless work and endless suffering? Once you see it, you will understand the need for an escape plan.

No problem to walk the path - it takes max. 3 hours. Go there in the morning so you will see more tortugas! The wall was nice but not more.

You don't need a guide for this attraction. You will go through Los Humedales on your way to the wall. You will pass by many beaches and see iguanas and tortoises walking the path with you. We walked the 15km (round trip) from town and back. I would suggest renting a bike unless you like long hikes. We found bikes in town for $3 per hour or $20 for the day from a place called Pahoe Hoe.

The walk to the wall provided good exercise and views of nature. But, the eall is boring and probably could be torn down withour damaging tourism.
