“Walked there”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We walked there on our own from town without a guide. The walk was decent, it followed the beach most of the way. Lots of little offshoot trails with things to see. The wall was kind of cool but anticlimactic. Good exercise though.

“A great walk with lots of wildlife”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

We walked the path and didnt find it as far as most mentioned. i dont think it necessary to ride a bike and saw many struggle on the gravel roads. Pack a bottle of water and lunch and make a day of it.
Although the wall itself doesn't take long to visit, the walk back is great to stop and walk down all the little paths. We saw the biggest flock of blue footed boobies in all of galapagos as well as the largest marine iguanas. They were huge!!
Also along the path we saw 6 wild tortoises which was amazing.
If you have the energy afterwards visit the tortoise breeding centre, it's the best out of the 3 in galapagos.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

It is quite a hike to the wall of tears, so I would recommend renting a bike and taking a bike ride and stopping at the different signed areas. Once you get to the top, you can take the steps to the top and will have a beautiful view of the ocean and mountains!!

“Interesting, but not thrilling”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

If you like history, this is a nice spot to stop. Otherwise, it is a tad boring. Just a bunch of rocks turned into a wall. The overlook is not bad on as sunny day, but there are other sites to see that are better.

“Journey great! The wall not so much”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

I loved this trip. We rented a bike from our hostel and cycled there, it took a fair few hours. There are a lot of stops on the way which are beautiful.
The worst part about this trip... It's baking hot ALL the time so cycling is exhausting, not to mention you are always on gravel or sand. A lot is also up hill. Because we were so tired, hot and just knackered by the time we got to the wall we weren't too fussed about it.
My suggestion is to either get in a taxi (with your bikes- the taxis are all 4x4 truck type things so will be able to put your bikes in) look at the wall then cycle back and stop off on your way back. Or if you do decide to cycle up go in the afternoon. It stays light quite late so if you go from 4pm it is guaranteed to be cooler, we left at 9am and it felt like midday heat even at that point.
I also suggest to bring a big 2L bottle of water for yourself and some kind of sweets for an energy boost.
Overall a good trip, but could have been made better if more well prepared.
