Rented a bike and peddled with some friends for about an hour, along the coast and with some beautiful views. The road was mostly flat, but then climbed quite a bit near the end. It was a great workout, especially in the unrelenting heat, but is definitely more enjoyable if you are in somewhat good shape. There is definitely plenty to see along the way (or the way back, as we did) - paths to mangroves, 360 degree viewpoints, beautiful beaches, interesting lagoons and lots of marine iguanas. There is a very good chance you will spot a tortoise along the way as well - we saw 2.

The Wall of Tears itself is an interesting structure, although not as impressive as I had envisioned. Since you've come this far, walk the stairs to the top of the wall and beyond and enjoy some amazing views of Puerto Ayora and the a good majority of Santa Cruz island.

It's safe to say that I enjoyed the bike trip and side excursions more than the wall itself.

Walk to the Wall of Tears was nice. But otherwise I didn't need to see the site. We saw some turtles along the road during our walk.

Wall not so attractive in it-self, however very nice ride along beaches with some wildlife en route.
Renting bicycles is easy but beware of flat tyres ...

We biked (I think the only way to get there unless you walk) to the Walll of Tears. Five flats (amount 26 tires) from a local thorny groundcover. The ride itself was hilly and sandy - so it takes some balance - and walking your bike. The wall is an impressive monument to man's inhumanity to man - a tower of stone under an unrelenting sun.

well, some report it as "sad history" etc. - i honestly did not get what is so special about this object to put on visit list. it´s neither majestic (did you hear about Belomorkanal just to compare what IS penal labor?) nor i have much of pitty for criminals, working in pacific island with more than gentle climate.
the wall, of course, can make sweep any civil engineer - owful construction, shame for those that been building it and supervising the construction.
the road to it, btw, is much more interesting. take short visits to every object along the route.
