We just returned from our honeymoon to the Galapagos islands and we stayed three nights at the Iguana Crossing hotel. The hotel is definitely an amazing place and was very relaxing for the last three nights of our honeymoon (we wish we could have stayed longer). We stayed in room 12, which was very nice and clean and had an amazing view. We only wish it had had a balcony, but still we were very happy. The hotel itself is a great facility in a great location. It is located next to the start of the trail that leads to the turtle breeding ground and is on the road that leads to the Wall of Tears. It is also very close to the Casa Rosada bar/hotel which has an awesome happy hour.

Iguana Crossing is depicted perfectly in the pictures on tripadvisor and the hotel website. The pool and deck area are beautiful, and the hot tub and lounge area on the top offer spectacular views. The bar area and restaurant are very nice as well with comfortable lounge chairs.

The food was excellent at the hotel - we loved the daily breakfast the hotel provided (which somehow we didn't know was included...so an extra bonus for us!) and the lunch and dinner meals we ate there were delicious. The ceviche was fresh and tasty, and my chicken apassionato was great.

The service at the hotel was also top notch - Daniel, Jackie, and Marie were extremely helpful in catering to anything we needed while we were there. Daniel also had complimentary wine sent up for us since it was our honeymoon, which was a classy touch. I talked a bit with Daniel about San Isabela island, and it was very interesting to hear about the delicate balance between developing the island and preserving its fragile ecosystem. I was also very impressed to find out that Daniel spoke english, french and some italian.

We liked Santa Cruz Island, but the laid back vibe and setting of San Isabela & Iguana Crossing was exactly what we were looking for.

Room Tip: Room 12 has an excellent view, but it is the only ocean view room without a balcony.

We spent 7 days of our honeymoon at this hotel and every day was just delightful. The staff was very attentive especially Daniel. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. The breakfast buffet was amazing. They had your everyday Ecuadorian food, bacon, eggs, toast and amuse boushe. Every day there was something different for breakfast. The views from our hotel room were breathtaking. When you come to the Galapagos you're coming to enjoy nature and the wildlife these Islands have to offer. The wildlife around the hotels property is just amazing. You are able to see iguanas, Flamingos and giant turtles without having to book tours. It was great to know from the locals that we were staying at the #1 hotel in Isabela.

If you like staying in places where things are more natural and not turisticaly overdeveloped Island Isabela is a good choice. The best accomodation on Isabela is this small boutique hotel. Rooms are big and clean, airconditioned. Personal is very friendly. Food is very good other than breakfast with selections of two breads, one salami, done chease butter and eggs, but enough for a disent breakfast.

A turistical guide Richard is very informed and educated and a real naturalist very eager and happy to explain the island attractions.

In conclusion: not luxorious but pretty good. But if you came to Isabela you are more into nature than resort type of person.

Dear Ratko_Croatia Guest:

It was a pleasure to welcome you at this far point of the world and we ´re glad you found the hotel confortable, and we are also happy that you enjoyed the many activities we´ve planned.
We hope you can understand the many problems of the logistics sometimes we have to face to have a propper supplying in Isabela.
We do our best to make your experience as beautiful as Isabela, and althought we believe your evaluation it´s a bit unfair against your review, we thank you for the possitive comments provided.

Stayed for 2 nights in July '12. Large, new, rooms with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Slept with the balconydoor open to enjoy the sound of the waves breaking.

The concierge ( Daniel, I believe ) really went out of his way to deliver a great experience, giving fair opinions on tours, helping out with flight booking etc.

On the roof there is a hot tub overlooking the ocean, great way to unwind after a day if hiking!

Only downside was that the shower worked with an auto stop, which in out room was after about 1 second of releasing the button. I understand the point of conserving fresh water, but at $300 a night i want to make that choice myself, rather than being forced to by the facilities.

Dear Rick_Zurich:

We thank you deeply for the opinions provided in your kind review...
It´s our pride to try to deliver the best experience possible, and we hope your stay was as good as described above.
We, very much, understand your opinion towards the showers and sinks.
On the other hand, you may as well consider that not everybody is fully aware of how important saving sweet water is. Especially in Isabela.
That obligates us to take measures in order to be sure that water will be saved.
We regret that this issue may have caused you trouble, thou we´re as well proud to be ecologically engaged, and our present and future guests must understand that this kind of measures must be taken not only here, but everywhere.
Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to describe why such measures took place at the hotel, and of course as well for your very kind comments about the hotel and it´s staff.
Hopefully we´ll meet again in Isabela island!

We were greeted by the manager and given a very helpful orientation to the hotel and its surroundings. Our room overlooked the ocean (I think they all do), and it was spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. There is a bike path (also can be walked) that runs parallel to the ocean and goes all the way to the "Wall of Tears", a giant wall constructed by former prisoners who were kept on this island a few decades in the past. Much wildlife to be seen on this path, including birds, marine iguanas, and tortoises. Towards the end of the path (4.5 miles long) there is a stairway to an overlook where you can view the island for miles in all directions. Also a unique boardwalk right next to the hotel that passes through a brackish pond (flamingos present along with many other water fowl) and goes into a wooded area. Again, lots of wildlife to view. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits this island. We hope to return some day

Dear cooljet4me:

Thank you very much for your possitive review of the hotel and it´s beautifull surroundings
As you´ve mentioned, there´s not only unique Fauna and flora to be witnessed at the Galapagos islands, but the history of how they´ve been populated is as outstanding and incredible as many as the species found all over.
We´re satisfied the hotel provided an experience alike the many adventures you had at Isabela and we expect you back in the islands soon!

My grandson and I stayed at Iguana Crossing on an REI trip. The hotel was a welcome respite after our snorkeling, mountain biking and hiking adventures. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the food excellent and the pool a great retreat for the kids.

As fresh water is scarce on the islands, the hotel uses a push button shower and faucet system that meters fresh water. Unique and a a good idea.

Great staff that was very helpful!

Room Tip: Pick a room with an ocean view!
