“Ocean view, big room. Went out of their way to deliver great service.”
Reviewed August 4, 2012

Stayed for 2 nights in July '12. Large, new, rooms with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Slept with the balconydoor open to enjoy the sound of the waves breaking.

The concierge ( Daniel, I believe ) really went out of his way to deliver a great experience, giving fair opinions on tours, helping out with flight booking etc.

On the roof there is a hot tub overlooking the ocean, great way to unwind after a day if hiking!

Only downside was that the shower worked with an auto stop, which in out room was after about 1 second of releasing the button. I understand the point of conserving fresh water, but at $300 a night i want to make that choice myself, rather than being forced to by the facilities.

Dear Rick_Zurich:

We thank you deeply for the opinions provided in your kind review...
It´s our pride to try to deliver the best experience possible, and we hope your stay was as good as described above.
We, very much, understand your opinion towards the showers and sinks.
On the other hand, you may as well consider that not everybody is fully aware of how important saving sweet water is. Especially in Isabela.
That obligates us to take measures in order to be sure that water will be saved.
We regret that this issue may have caused you trouble, thou we´re as well proud to be ecologically engaged, and our present and future guests must understand that this kind of measures must be taken not only here, but everywhere.
Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to describe why such measures took place at the hotel, and of course as well for your very kind comments about the hotel and it´s staff.
Hopefully we´ll meet again in Isabela island!

We were greeted by the manager and given a very helpful orientation to the hotel and its surroundings. Our room overlooked the ocean (I think they all do), and it was spacious, immaculate, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. There is a bike path (also can be walked) that runs parallel to the ocean and goes all the way to the "Wall of Tears", a giant wall constructed by former prisoners who were kept on this island a few decades in the past. Much wildlife to be seen on this path, including birds, marine iguanas, and tortoises. Towards the end of the path (4.5 miles long) there is a stairway to an overlook where you can view the island for miles in all directions. Also a unique boardwalk right next to the hotel that passes through a brackish pond (flamingos present along with many other water fowl) and goes into a wooded area. Again, lots of wildlife to view. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits this island. We hope to return some day

Dear cooljet4me:

Thank you very much for your possitive review of the hotel and it´s beautifull surroundings
As you´ve mentioned, there´s not only unique Fauna and flora to be witnessed at the Galapagos islands, but the history of how they´ve been populated is as outstanding and incredible as many as the species found all over.
We´re satisfied the hotel provided an experience alike the many adventures you had at Isabela and we expect you back in the islands soon!

My grandson and I stayed at Iguana Crossing on an REI trip. The hotel was a welcome respite after our snorkeling, mountain biking and hiking adventures. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the food excellent and the pool a great retreat for the kids.

As fresh water is scarce on the islands, the hotel uses a push button shower and faucet system that meters fresh water. Unique and a a good idea.

Great staff that was very helpful!

Room Tip: Pick a room with an ocean view!

Iguana Crossing is indeed located where marine iguanas cross the road. The hotel is brand new and very modern, with nice added features like a roof-top jacuzzi and pool facing the ocean. The food is delicious - from the self-serve breakfast to a wonderful variety of entrees and appetizers for dinner. Behind the hotel is a boardwalk to a birdmarsh - go for the Flamingos! - and continue on the the breeding sanctuary for two species of giant tortoises. Daniel - the hotel manager - is welcoming and friendly.

Dear GinkoBoston:
Sometimes our guests believe that Iguana Crossing just stands for a name related to the Galapagos, but, no, it´s name stands because the Iguanas cross our front road every morning, coming back every afternoon. Actually they seem to have quite a tied schedule!!!
We thank you for making this clear, as well as for your great comments about the hotel, it´s kitchen and staff.
Hopefully until the next time!

We stayed at the Iguana Crossing to wind down from our Island Cruise. What an amazing place, The service was impecable. Coming off the 2.5 hour ferry from Santa Cruz our taxi from the ferry to the hotel left us at the wrong hotel down the road from the Iguana crossing and before we could even say boo Juan Daniel came running out to help us carry our luggage into the hotel . . . From then on it was nothing but friendly faces, and beautiful service. It is by far the nicest hotel on the island, and well worth the cost. Right across the street from the beach, with access to the Mangrove trail, and town, and its own pool, without detracting frmo the cruise part of our trip . . . It was amazing! Go there!
