The walk was nice and there were a few flamingos to watch in their habitat, but nowhere near as many as other species on the island. Also saw many marine iguanas. It was a nice walk though.

Make sure you take time to see the flamingos in the lagoon. They are elegant and interesting as they feed in the water. There are also lots of marine iguanas - they squirt salt out of their noses! Cool to see!

We stayed at the Iguana Crossing. In the morning, we would look out the breakfast room window at these beautiful lagoons with flamigoes. We asked our hosts about it. They said just outside the hotel, turn to the right and there's a wooden walkway that leads thru a series of lagoons each with flamingoes and other birds. If we continue on, it leads to the Tortoise Conservation Center. It's a lovely walk round trip with opening out onto the lagoons and trees hanging over you in the enclosures. With the overhanging trees, it's a cool walk, both in temperatures and sites. I loved it and you will too!

Elegant and a little prehistoric as they fish at your footsteps. You have to step over the iguanas to see them. No guide needed.

We made a right at the Iguana Crossing off Avenida Gill (the main drag behind the beach) and came to a raised wooden walkway that leads through system of lagoons populated by wonderful exotic Flamingos. I'm sure that the females are the more subdued colors as is the case in most of the aviary world. The males are strongly colored with great highlights. We walked through on the walkway viewing various pods of birds. Never a large population in one location, rather maximum of six together loosely. Continuing on and passing the flamingos you get a wonderful tree lined trail which becomes a gravel path for awhile before returning to the wooden raised walkway ultimately leading to the Tortoise Conservation Center. Great walk round trip. Mornings are better as they feed the tortoises about 10:30. Coordinating the two special locations.
