I went with my friends to Galapagos and the Island that we really recomend to go is Isabela, is the bigest island of Galapagos maybe only 600 people living there, We had a great hike to Sierra Negra and then we did check in to this hotel as walk inn, We loved the girl that is the manager there, Gabriela and her crew did a great job with all my group

Not my favorite of the Red Mangrove properties, but really good if you're looking to hang out at the beach. We spent 3 nights here.

The rooms are on the large side and has the basic amenities (including A/C), except no TV.

The rooms are across the street from the office/lobby. The beach is literally five seconds from the rooms. You can readily find marine iguanas on the beach (and if you wake up early enough, you can see fresh iguana tracks in the sand).

I did have some issues with the number of flies around the deck (they seemed to come up from underneath). I also did have my sandals stolen during the night on our last night there (it was the first night of Carneval).

If you do choose to eat at their restaurant, you'll find the food is very good. But I would also suggest taking the 5 minute walk into town to try some of the local restaurants as well.

Laundry service is actually a small family that lives adjacent to the rooms. They will wash and line-dry your clothes for a small fee.

Some of the locals do use the property as a shortcut, so be wary of your belongings. There was also some construction at the building next door, but they always stopped before nightfall.

The deck can get incredibly buggy at night, so bring insect repellent. A flashlight would also be recommended if you wanted to walk along the beach at night, especially toward the pier.

The property is about a 10 minute walk to the harbor so it's really easy to get to your excursions. Or you can take a taxi or chiva.

Once again, we'd like to thank you for your candid review. It's a funny thing how 'taste' can vary so much from person to person. We receive so many raves about how great our rooms are in Isabela that I suppose it's a bit of a shock to hear someone say anything else. We happen to think both our rooms and the beach in front are pretty special. Photos are available in our website others decide for themselves:

We are quite distressed to hear that anything was stolen as this has not been reported before and you must be correct when you mention that Carnaval must factor in. There is something of a joke in the Galapagos that basically says "Nothing is ever stolen, merely borrowed." The population is too small for things NOT to be recovered. Since you do not live there to see your shoes on anyone else, if you send us a photo of your missing shoes, we would be more than happy to post a flyer in town: "Have you seen these?" Quite the deterrent as no one would want to be known as a thief in such a small village. And that is exactly why most of the people you meet who live in the Galapagos will tell you how very, very rare theft is and how safe the Galapagos are. It is mostly definitely in our plans to extend a wall to provide complete privacy on the grounds very soon.

The laundry service you described is not Red Mangrove's laundry service. Our service involves washing machines, dryers, our staff and is located behind our beach house across the sandy street, the same one where Reception and Dining is located. We can only apologize for any noise of any nearby construction. We are just glad that it is not a permanent condition and then we breath a sigh of relief that it is only a nuisance while our guests are out enjoying unique Galapagos activities rather than trying to relax or sleep after the sun goes down.

As discussed in your Floreana review, one simple solution we can offer is to provide the wonderful organic repellent we have made here in Ecuador for guests at all 3 of our Lodges. Perhaps outdoor torches during the 'buggiest' months would be another solution. Again, we are more than receptive, you might even say we are grateful for any suggestions any of our guests have.

I came to this hotel as part of the 5 night adventure program in the galapagos.

In the morning we went to the Sierra Negra Crater and Volca Chico, wonderful places in the galapagos. Also visited Tintoreras a small island in the bay, saw Penguins, Seal, Sharks (Tintoreras) many of them as well marine iguanas and Land Iguanas.

Then relax at the white sand beach also with iguanas, some noise of the the bar next door, finally was not that bad as could it be.

Againg my decition of choosing a land base visit to the Galapagos I think was the best

I spent several days together with my 9 yo son at Red Mangrove. I was fully satisfied in all aspects of my trip. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and bright. The staff was excellent and very attentive to details. More importantly, my 9 yo son was very pleased with the trip and the lodge. It was like a small wild life zoo with all kinds of birds and animals that you get to see from your room or just on the deck. My experience was perfect and I only have superlatives to offer.

Did the Darwing Triangle with Red Mangrove, Arriving to Isabela and staying this rooms, the room is like being as a Hotel Chain quality, AC, nice bedding, and only 8 rooms beach front, the thing at the begining did not agree is to cross the street from the beach to the dining room (an old beach house), In this Island the only place I found people with uniforms serving quality food with quality service. when is time for breakfast employees canot serve as fast as they should
In the morning went to the Volcano Sierra Negra, Best experience in the whole Galapagos
By the way the hotel just opened like a month ago, another detail was nice the radios with Ipod dock, I could not make work this dock perhaps. they should give you more instructions.

  • Liked — Room confort in such a remote Island
  • Disliked — Ipod dock not working

Great place for a relaxing holiday, I stay in the new part of the hotel, where they have very nice rooms right in front of the beach, the people at the hotel are very nice and help us with all the information and reservations for the different activities in the island, also I enjoyed a quiet and relaxing time snorkeling at the concha perla, which is only a few blocks away from the hotel.
Great place to visit.

  • Liked — The location, right in front of the beach
  • Disliked — The hot water in the room, was too hot or too cold, hard to get it in a warm state
