i have been going to Phayam for many years and bamboo bungalows is by far the best place on the island.
located at the center of the main beach and still very private and quit.
the rooms are clean with a special out door shower, the stuff is always friendly and helpful and the restaurant is delicious with fresh catch from the sea.
koh phayam is a beautiful island and at bamboo bungalows they made me feel right at home.
cant wait to go again and again...

We was on Koh phayam 2 times. First high season on February we looked around many place and we choose Bamboo Bungalow. This period of time quiet busy lucky we've got the bungalow, They have about 4-5 type difference price not too expensive not too cheap but we've got best service and smile from staff so nice. Second time on July this time is a lot of rain but difference nice, quiet and all the place around almost close. Of cause we choose Bamboo Bungalows again. This time rest staff but still get good service, can speak english just little bit but we understand because not they own language. We saw some commended said get bad experience and complain many thing we can't imagine how come and how the person like? If you traveller one thing you must understand you can't get every thing you want other while you must stay at your home only. Just respected the place where you are then you will get a good time on your trips.

They don't explain us the choice of accomodation, we take the villa (the most expensive in high season 1500 BTH) but no electricity after 23h and before 10h30.
Cold shower, no internet on the evening even early and at 21h30 nobody and no service.
Deception...
Saving nature is just to charge they don't care.
The owne woman was really unpleasant.
Room are beautifull but they don't clean the beach and no fan during the night...
Defenitively not recomand this place

Hello Zenki,

We'd like to let you know we've read your review, and it's certainly unfortunate that you didn't enjoy your stay. Some of the issues you mentioned were specific to the island at that time and not specific to our resort. For example, there are no longer limitations of electricity, and hot water is also available.

Now to your other issues:

1. The claim that we don't care about nature couldn't be more wrong. Our entire team dedicates days upon days of recycling, and minimizing the use of toxic materials even when these options are more costly. This doesn't benefit us financially but derives from our genuine love of the island and its rich nature.

We visited Koh Phayam in low season (July) and chose to come here to be way from crowds and mass tourism of some other Thai beach resorts.
We loved the whole area around Ranong on the mainland, and the 2 hour ferry trip to Koh Phayam was easy and relaxing, cruising past some Burmese islands along the way.
Bamboo Bungalows offered us everything we were looking for - classy, well equipped bungalows, restaurant with very good food, and very friendly atmosphere with great staff. Gems, the manager speaks very good english and was very helpful and attentive throughout our 5 night stay.
This place wouldn't be for everybody - no aircon, no Tvs, very limited nightlife. so don't come here if you want those things, come here if you want a really unspoilt, low key and relaxing beach experience.

Room tip: There are many different types of bungalow to suit most budgets, we had a 'suite' which was the nicest and biggest, but in low season only 500 Baht/night

We first stayed at Bamboo on a whim five years ago and we have been back every year since.

Situated mid way along Koh Phayam's beautiful Aow Yai beach, Bamboo is set back just behind the tree line. Whilst not the cheapest bungalows on the island, Bamboo has a range of bungalows from the "Original Bamboo Bungalows" (200 Baht off season / 500 Baht Peak) to the well set up "Bamboo Villa" (500 Baht off / 1200 Baht peak) and depending on occupancy the prices can be negotiable.

We choose the "original Bamboo", which is adequate for our needs. A simple thatch structure with a reasonable size bedroom, attached (cold-read tepid) shower and toilet and a nice verandah in front. Power is from the generator and in the off season only available for a couple of hours during the day and from about 1800 -2200 in the evening. In the high season I believe the power runs 24 hours.

All the bungalows radiate from Bamboo's central Restaurant / bar, which is open from early AM to about 2200 in the evening. Serving a great range of reasonably priced food and beverages, it is the hub of all activities and a great place to hang out and meet people. Staff are great and the service, whilst not lightning fast, is fine and always with a smile. Gems keeps the place ticking and will help you out with any questions, Bin is great and mine host Yuli is also really helpful.

There are free kayaks for guests and surfboards, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear is available for hire with a modest one off fee. There is also free wifi during hours when power is available.

All up, Bamboo is fantastic and Phayam a little piece of Paradise. As yet, it is not too over run and the "big end of town" haven't moved in. As a matter of fact in October / November if you can count 20 to 30 people on the beach it's getting "crowded".
