Perhaps you need to be a traveler (and know the real value of simplicity and authenticity) to take full advantage of this resort. Sure, there's no AC, nor hot water. Terrific: if you want the life that's been created for you back home, there are plenty of places prepared to provide a formatted service. lyndy9 must have been having a bad day with Paul, because he is a chill guy. And sam t is right that you can get cheaper places around, but that's because they are cheaper. It has obviously taken a lot of work to get PP land up and running as an eco-resort. It's always harder for the pioneers.
The huts are simple but comfortable and well looked after, the fans work well, there are hardly any mosquitoes, the food is good, and the place is relaxed.
I stayed at Samui and Boracay in the early 80s, when all the places were like this low-key place. Then people demanded AC and hot water. Think it through, realise what we are losing and make your choices. Once the toothpaste has been squeezed out of the tube it's hard to put it back.More
