PPLand is perfect for families with young children and couples that want to get away from it all and singles that want to be hermits!

When I finally start building on my land... I sure hope it looks something like PPLand! Absolutely stunning property. We stayed for a short 3 days but definitely left wanting more! If we're ever in Thailand during the cooler high season we would love to get away from it all at PPLand for weeks and weeks!

The Good:
Immaculate bungalows. Best bungalow construction we've seen all over Thailand. Pads on beds to make them comfortable. Pristine bathrooms with outdoor feel. Hammock on every bungalow deck is a fabulous addition. Decor inside bungalows is lovely. Community space/dining area is visually pleasing. Pool is salt water and super clean. Massages onsite are fabulous. Resort location is close to the pier and close enough to walk to the other beaches (everything is close if you hire a motorbike). Fabulous price for this level of quality and attention to detail. Also the pool is stellar and the kids absolutely loved it.

The Bad:
All over the world, wherever it is hot, you have two options: fan or a/c. This is standard across the board. At PP Land, you have neither. Although you are coastal, at night there is no wind. So sleeping can be uncomfortable. We loved the place and would've stayed for 2 or 3 weeks, but with no wind, no fan and the days getting hotter and hotter, we just couldn't do it and decided to leave.

Plugs are only available during the day. Why this is bad? If you want to use your camera during the day, you cannot charge the battery at night. Another thing is that the plugs are only available from around 930am and get turned off at 7pm. So if you are gone all day you must come back early if you need something charged for the following day.

The food is great. Actually it's fantastic. The only problem is the ordering. There's not a regular wait staff so it can be quite awkward at times to ask someone to make you something. They have a system where you write what you want in a ledger book, but the book is behind their counter, so you must ask for the book. If you know what you want you quickly write it down but by this time the person that handed you the book is already gone. So you must find and tell them what you wrote. We stayed at another resort on this island, their system was simple. A person was always near the counter, they have pads of paper, you write what you want then write your room number on the paper, then take a seat. This sounds similar, but at the other resort there is no awkwardness, all the staff understand that if you're approaching the counter, you want something. At PP Land, they walk right past you even though you've just walked into the community room. I've stayed in family run guesthouses where you feel welcome in their "home," but PP Land makes you feel a little like you're putting them out.

Final bad mark, the dining room is set up for couples. 99% of the tables are set up for just two people. This also makes for an anti-social environment.

The kitchen closes around 10pm.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms really. The family rooms are front row. I believe that bungalows 8-12 are...

As one of The Rough Guides favourites we booked ecologie resort PP land on Koh Phayam. Everything seems to us wel organized and we wondered how on earth it is possible to create a laidback atmosphere as on this resort.

The secret is being captured in the hands of Belgium owner Paul and his lovely wife Pearl.

They tread their guests as part of the family and are transparant in lots of things which are going on at that special moment if you are visiting them.

The place might not be on the best spot of the island, otherside it's very relaxed.

The food in their restaurant is more than acceptable and all the personal tries to give you a warm welcome.

Bungalows are maintained well for the price you paying and are clean.

Special surprise was that Paul take me out for fishing ("hengelen in Flamish") which was a great experience.

Paul is a bit unconventional, but that is exactly the charme of this place!

I love this place, it's in tune with nature. The swimming pool is filled with filtered sea water, no chemicals. My bungalow is among the cashew nut trees next to the beach and over the sea I can see Burma and other islands. In the early morning mist it all looks magical. There are several really long beaches some for surfing others calm.
There are no cars here only motor bikes as taxis or to hire but I like to walk everywhere.
I feel so healthy, eating fresh cooked fish, lots of garlic prawns and fresh local vegetables with rice. PPLand for me is the best place to stay, the bungalows are clean, well built and have good bathrooms, flushing toilets and a mosquito net over the bed. It's heaven.

Room Tip: They have bigger rooms for families.

Searching for a somewhat hidden gem in Southern Thailand, my eye fell on the small island 'Koh Phayam' near Ranong.
I planned to stay for a couple of days before moving on further south.
I checked in at PP Land, very conveniently located at a 10 min walk from the small town. I really appreciated this calm beach and the quiet surroundings. The bungalows are surrounded by cashew nut trees and there's enough space between the bungalow to have privacy.
The design of the bungalows with big windows facing the beach is really nice.
Another great thing were the good mattresses, which is quite often an issue in other places.

Altough the resort is not far from the village, I had most of my meals in the resort's restaurant, which is realy awesome.
The owners do a great effort to built an eco-friendly resort and make everybody feel at home.

I ended up staying 10 days (half of my holidays), and hope to be back for a return visit.
Great place !
