Driving along the ranges assists the parents explain how small and temporary we are in the history of this great land. It was beautiful and awe inspiring as the colours changed at dusk and again at dawn.

I had previously visited the West MacDonnells and decided this time to see the East MacDonnells as well as return to some of the West's attractions. The East is a much shorter distance, going between Alice Springs and The Ross River Resort, where I stayed the night. There are not as many places to see, but it is just as beautiful, and the attractions are much closer to the highway, so there is less travelling on unsealed roads. I visited Emily and Jessie Gaps, Corroboree Rock and Trephina Gorge. This was also the only area where I saw a dingo in the wild.

So happy to have visited this area on a one day trip, exceptionally beautiful. I would now like to return and visit the whole area at a more leisurely pace, but a day trip was a great way to get a broad overview of an amazing area, hoping to explore more fully next time.
