This place has been a little up and down over the years but the new managers seem to be doing a great job. Nice place to drop in for lunch and a few beers, food is excellent, beer is cold, prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and courteous.

We will definitely be heading back there soon !

Having worked in hospitality myself for many years I will normally pick a place to bits when dining out, with this venue I was pleasantly suprised. The staff were smiling, the food was amazing ( try the calamari ) and good value. Everyone at my table was very happy with what they ordered . We will be back

We booked a table for 5 for dinner.
When we arrived at the agreed time we were shown to the bar area and given a bar snack menu. When we asked why we couldn't have a table with a tablecloth we were advised that those tables were only for a la carte dinners!!
We advised that we were !!!
We waited ages for the wait staff to take our orders and even longer for our meals. It must be said right from the out set that we were returning diners , bringing friends to share our previous great experience.
We ordered the chicken vol au vents, breads, dips and scallops.
the chicken vol au vents were probably "not as good as mum makes" and the black pudding ( read black sausage ) with the scallops was stone cold .
Three of our party ordered the pork belly with pickled cabbage, one , rib fillet ( rare to medium ) and one lamp rump ( medium)
The crackle on the pork was not existent. And the few shreds of cabbage were difficult to find.
The lamb was "freshly Shawn" and still baaing it was that RAW
And the steak was so over cooked and tough it was NOT edible.

The base of potato was the large chunks of vegetable clumped together , more like moulded warm potato salad, beyond rustic. Not once did any of the staff enquire as to " how is your meal " " is everything alright" even when they cleared the plates with less than half of a meal eaten did they enquire.

Then the bill , all lines of the itemized invoice read " function food" and a dollar value., when I asked for a menu to compare the prices of the function food charged against a menu, I was provided with the lunch menu which was entirely different to what we had eaten. When the correct menu was furnished we questioned the validity of the charges, only to b e told that " oh sorry this is the wrong bill" !!!! Very unprofessional

This was extremely disappointing and obviously the new chef has got a lot to learn about running a restaurant. Lucky he only has a 12 month lease, because we won't be going back whilst he's there

Had lunch here 2 days in a row, staff were great, friendly and energetic. Eye fillet steak was cooked to perfection, trio of dips beautiful, delicious nachos and a lovely venue with both indoor and alfresco dining, today's steak nailed it, well done, totally recommend
