Years ago I used to eat in the ship regular however the last few years it as steadily declined. The food is very very average with lots of other pubs in the area such as the manor and black horse offering much better food. The service is good apart from the fact they ask if youve booked and check with the chef when there is only 1 other table in ?? Lol. The atmosphere is very drab all round a refurb and better food urgently required!!

Living locally The Ship used to be a firm favourite of ours for a mid week tea. However the bug bear is whenever you visit they ask if you have booked (looking at you as though they are booked up for the next three weeks ...even though there may be tumble weed blowing about ... you can almost hear the sharp intake of breath when you say you haven't!) .....This is not only our experience, but that of family & friends who have visited. It has put us off to be honest and we tend to visit The Manor for a mid week tea which is friendlier & has a better atmosphere ...... Possibly down to the licencee who we have likened to Basil Fawlty!

Living locally The Ship used to be a favourite of ours. However each time you go, there are clearly loads of empty tables, they ask if you have booked (even though there may be tumble weed blowing around!) ... it has completely put us off from going and we now visit The Manor instead for a quick tea. So much so we have even named the landlord Basil Fawlty.

This is a very good place to eat, not fancy or gastro pub. But if you want a good meal at a reasonable price, this place will fit that agenda.

Had some really nice food with friends last night. Staff polite and service was good. Will be visiting again soon.
