“Venice Link Water Taxi”

We were in Venice from the !8th to 21 Sept and paid E100 for both my wife and self from the airport to our hotel and were also picked up from our hotel and taken to the Cruise Terminal three days later. This is a shared taxi service so we had to wait about 15 minutes at the airport till other passengers arrived. The pick up from our hotel was on time and they had sent a fax to our hotel the day before to confirm the time of pick up.I would recommend this service. It helps if your hotel is one that they pick up from as shown on their website.

“Watch out tourists!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

One of the only things we found quite sleazy and shady in Italy was the water taxi fine. We purchased our ticket and went directly onto the boat. We bypasses anything that stated the ticket needed to be validated and we weren't told by the sales agent (of course). As soon as the boat departed we were approached by two Italian girls that spoke excellent English demanding the fine be paid. They pointed to a sign on the boat that stated the fine information but both my partner and I never saw it. We didn't want to cause any delay because we were headed to the train to Rome plus we were in fear that we'd end up in an Italian prison where we would never be heard of again. Unlikely, but when you don't speak anything but the pleasantries in another country, you pay the fine. I'm very disappointed in this type of behaviour towards foreign visitors, and will just call my credit card company to dispute the charge. I guess if they collect $59 Euro from every tourist and don't get caught, then they are making a ton of revenue despite the lack of business ethics!

“Quintessential Venice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

While the trip is expensive compared to the train....it is a great chance to feel how Venice operates. It was 15 euro for 24 hour pass. The boats are safe and very clean and the staff friendly

“Best way to arrive in Venice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

We pre booked a water taxi online before leaving to take us from the airport to our hotel, it was the most spectacular way to arrive in venice, cost €100 but 4 of us shared it - definitely a highlight and worth doing.

“So Worth the Money!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

My husband and I arrived at the Marco Polo airport outside of Venice at 9:30 a.m. after a long, sleepless plane ride. I had read up on the various forms of transportation from the airport to Venice and had initially planned on taking the Alilaguna. However, being that we were both exhausted and knowing that the Alilaguna meant another 2 hours of travel, we chose to splurge and hire a water taxi. We are so glad we did---it was well worth the 120 euros. We probably could have asked around and found a few people to share the costs but we were too tired to bother. These boats are beautiful and very well maintained. The drivers are professionals and take their jobs seriously. After walking down to the dock and locating our boat (very easy), we climbed in, put our luggage in the cabin and then immediately climbed to the back of the boat where we stood for the 30 minute trip to our hotel. This afforded us a great view of our approach to Venice and all the surrounding water traffic. It was amazing! Not only did we get to see the Grand Canal, we then turned and wound our way through a series of smaller canals, passing under numerous pedestrian bridges along the way. Getting your first glimpse of life in Venice from aboard a water taxi is indeed a treat. The ride, with all the fresh air, also had the added benefit of reviving our tired bodies. We were let off right in front of our hotel. After a ride in a water taxi, the 80 euro gondola rides did not even interest us. My advice, skip the gondola and hire a water taxi.
