“Great location on the Norfolk Coastal path.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

The Windmill was our stop at the end of our first days walking of the Norfolk coastal path. It's location was perfect as the path runs straight through the grounds so no major detour was needed to find out bed. Very helpful staff showed us to our room (thankfully no stairs!) Beautiful room, equipped with everything that we needed. Set in some nice grounds, Did not have dinner in, but the breakfast was fantastic.

We were lucky to find such a unique Wedding Venue which could also accommodate our guests and provide a fabulous backdrop for our special day.
If you can find dates where you are able to 'book' the whole Windmill for your wedding, do it! If you want an intimate day for a small wedding party, Cley Windmill has to be the place.

Unique individual rooms, very good food and polite, attentive staff. What more could you ask for?

It is an old building and so there are some limitations as to the size of your party and the use of confetti. This is more than made up for by everything else the Mill has to offer.
Thank you to Simon and his staff for their hard work and service.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great but stay in the Mill itself for an experience with a difference.

Was taken as a surprise to stay in the Wheel room at the top of the Windmill. Very exciting on arrival to be climbing a ladder to the bedroom and then again to the bathroom right at the top. We were greeted by a very friendly lady but we didn't see the same staff again so it was a bit impersonal. No biscuits on our tray on the first day but they did appear on the second. Our main problem was the chilly bathroom and shower, there are signs warning about water pressure in the windmill but we couldn't shower at all on two occasions and couldnt get the water to run from the taps in the sink in the bathroom either. We were offered a slight discount off the price but it did prove to be a problem for us, especially after returning from a boat trip cold and wet, when you are paying this price the essentials need to work. It was a shame that the woodburner wasnt lit at this time of year it would have been nice cosy and nice to sit in the lounge with a book but we didn't feel it was very inviting without the fire. Breakfasts were very good , can't comment on the evening meal as we ate out both evenings but on return we did feel a bit bad walking in through the dining room having to push the curtain open behind the entrance door to access the windmill as there was a dinner party in progress .Essentially our experience is its a quirky memorable stay, location is perfect, we understand the limitations of the building but the shower really needs sorting.

Wonderful and relaxing stay with great B&B.
Our stay for two nights in the 'long house' was perfect with a very comfortable bed, spotless linen and fresh milk in the fridge for the morning cuppa.
Breakfast on both days was well cooked and the best Kipper I have had in a long time.
Staff very helpful.

Never having been to the North Norfolk coast, we wanted a good location to explore from. The windmill was recommended by friends and it certainly lived up to expectations. We stayed in the Long House, adjacent to the windmill. Very smart and comfortable, with thoughtful and clever design touches. Superb bed and duvet. Small but workable en-suite. Great views from the end windows, out to the reed beds and coast. Staff extremely pleasant and could not have been more helpful - quickly responding to a couple of requests. Had dinner there on both nights and the food quality was 'good restaurant' standard. Highly recommended, but you'll have to book well ahead as they're rather busy......the downside of Trip Advisor reviews :-)

Room Tip: There are 2 self-catering rooms acroos the courtyard from the windmill. Our room, the Long House, w...

What better place to stay on the stormiest night in 25 years than a windmill? We stayed in the Wheat Chamber and were very impressed by it - the attention to detail, comfy bed, good shower, mini bar, lovely furnishings. I must mention the witty 'information for guests' which was full of dry humour about the local area. Other reviewers have mentioned the noise, well, it wasn't so bad and what do you expect from such an old building?
We ate supper there, a friendly dining experience, but the food wasn't quite as good as we had hoped - it would have been harder to cut a thinner piece of apple pie. Breakfast was fine, but again, nothing special. I would stay there again but would check out one of the other many eating places in the area next time.
Staff were very friendly. I would suggest they sort out the wifi - you can't get it in many rooms, and these days it really isn't such a big problem to sort it out.
