For our first night in Curacau, we tried Kura Hulanda at the lodge near our great dive company, Go West divers in Westpunt. What a huge mistake. This was not a good experience for our first Curaçao meal.
We got there before 6:00 and were told the restaurant opened at 6:00. We ordered a drink and the. Attendee half ignored us for about 5 minutes as there were about 3 other parties there keeping him busy. At 6:10 we went to the restaurant to find that no, it did not open until 6:30. Back to the bar where you could hardly see the ocean with all the hut roofs.
At 6:30 we made it down to the restaurant and watched the sunset. All the front tables were reserved for Lodge guests on this Monday night. The second row were tables for 4. So we sat in the last row.
It took over 45 minutes to get our quesadilla and salad appetizers. There was very little attention by the numerous wait staff during this time, so I guess one drink was all they wanted to serve. We were starving. Both were ok but not outstanding. From this time it took another hour to get our dinner. We were about to walk out when dinners finally came. Again, ok meals but fairly overpriced. Again no attention from wait staff.
After our meal we walked up to the terminal and asked to be checked out ( everyone else we saw did the same thing ), of course the "service charge" tip was already included so it seemed like they could not care less about providing service.
With one of the absolute best restaurants down the street with outstanding service and food (Landhuis Misje), or Sol Food which gets positive reviews for casual fare, you would have to be ignorant to eat here ( like we were).
