“Wonderful trip with Chris”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

We booked an early trip to Stingray City with White Sand Water Sports. The night before, Al actually came to the house we are renting to let us know that the weather didn't look good for the next morning so we re-booked. We went early today (Sunday), had the boat to ourselves (four of us), and had the Stingray sandbar to ourselves as well. Chris took us out early this morning, and it was wonderful. We went to Stingray City first and then snorkeled. Chris was a great guide and told us to snorkel as long as we wanted. Both boys (17 and 20) loved the trip, as did myself and my husband. The guys at White Sand Water Sports were great to deal with, and this excursion was a highlight of our ten days on Grand Cayman. Thanks a lot.

“Best snorkeling on the island”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

We booked a snorkeling boat trip with White Sands while on the island last month. We called the day before we wanted to go, and booked an afternoon 2-stop snorkel trip on a motor boat (they offer sailboat and jet ski snorkel trips too). It's the off season, and we ended up being the only two people who booked for that trip. Most operations on the island would cancel a trip with only two reservations, but White Sands was happy to accommodate, and said they wouldn't think of canceling given we drove across the island from our Seven Mile Beach hotel to take the trip. So, we got an unexpected private snorkel boat tour, which was awesome! (Given that the max number of guests on a trip is six, I think everyone would get lots of individual attention even on a full trip.)

Dave was our guide, and he did a great job. He took us out to the two different snorkel locations, which were both fabulous and far more vibrant than what we saw on the west side of the island. WAY more fish and healthier reefs than the west side of the island. Saw several dozen species of fish, sharks, rays, vibrant coral heads with huge sea fans, and lots of other snorkeling awesomeness.

We were the only boat at the first stop (there are not a lot of snorkel operations on the east end, so the stops are way less crowded) and upon arriving at the second stop, Dave saw that the other boat was getting ready to leave, so we took a short detour to a shipwreck so that we could have the second stop to ourselves too. Dave was super helpful at helping us identify the fish we were seeing. Dave also filled us in on lots of history, things to do and places to eat on the island.

If you're going to go all the way to the Cayman Islands, definitely make the extra effort to drive over to the other side of the island and take a snorkel trip with White Sands. It's the best snorkeling I've ever done, and the hospitality was fantastic. We definitely felt we were getting off the beaten path and having a more authentic (and less crowded) Cayman experience than was available on the west side of the island. I think it would be great with kids as long as the kids are comfortable in the water - the sites had really calm water and even the deeper of the two sites was only 15-20' with really tall reefs so lots to see just under the surface. It was the highlight of a great day exploring the quieter parts of the island.

“Highlight of our 10th Anniversary Vacation”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

My wife and I visited Grand Cayman for the first time to celebrate our 10th anniversary at the Reef Resort on the East End of the island and were really looking forward to the Stingray City encounter. The concierge advised us to book the early trip with White Sand Water Sports. So not being ones to take advantage of actually sleeping in on vacation, we met up with Chris for the 6:15am shuttle van. There were only 9 of us on the boat (counting Chris the Captain) and after a short ride from the dock, we were standing in pristine blue waters just after 7am and the stingrays started coming in before we even dropped the anchor. If you have the opportunity to go visit the Stingray Sandbar (Chris will explain the history of the stingray's attraction to this location to you - fascinating story), you ABSOLUTELY MUST book the early trip. We had the entire location to ourselves and the interactions were unbelievable! After spending about 45 minutes with the rays, we headed off to the edge of a reef for a fantastic snorkel - in depths of about 2 ft to 12 ft with perfect visibility. Tons of surgeonfish, triggers, jacks, grunts parrotfish and even a few grouper. Chris even directed us to a coral head that housed a nice green moray eel. After snorkeling, it was time to head in and that's when the stingray sandbar was overwhelmed with all of those tourists. So glad we chose the early morning trip - some people in our group had been to Stingray City before on the cruise ship excursions, but said that the small group setting was a completely different (and substantially better) experience. We enjoyed the trip so much that we booked it again (7am trip twice) two days later. At the resort, Chris' sons Allan and Collin were just as hospitable and friendly as their father. Great family overall and highly recommend using White Sand Water Sports when in Grand Cayman.

“Staying on the East Side? White Sands Water Sports is a must!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

This is our third visit to the Reef Resort, and along with eating out, our favorite activity has to be snorkeling, and the guys to show us all the good spots are the on-site specialists, White Sands Water Sports. Today it was Dave to take us out to two great spots, Cleo's and Sunset reef. OK, so Dave didn't sing to us like Apollo used to do, but his extra tour of the wrecks on the trip back in was great! The small groups allows for lots of personal attention. These guys are like snorkeling with you best friend. Definitely a must for anyone visiting the East side

“Another great trip...”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

This is the third time we went to the Reef Resort and the 3rd time we took a snorkelling adventure with White Sands (actually, on this trip we went out twice). Each time is great and it never gets old. Diving at the various sites always shows you something new. this time we actually saw a nurse shark up close during one of the trips. Dave and Alan are great tour guides and they make the experience really fund. It's always the highlight of our week there so if you stay at the Reef or Morritts, you really should go out. We were a family of 5 but it's a great adventure for everyone.
