We spent a week here during the heatwave in 2018. We had a great stay. Valentin greeted us warmly and was on hand to answer any questions we may have as well as helping us book tables in the two restaurants linked to the cottages. Valentin speaks perfect English so if your French is not that good you will be fine. The cottage is very well placed - literally just next to the lake. The garden was completely closed so safe for children and pets. The house has a little garage at the front where there is a washing machine and was big enough for us to store our bikes. The air conditioning was a very good addition with the unexpected heat.
There is free wifi but you have to log in via a host site. Although we didn't have to put our details in each time, it did take some time to log back in each time we returned home and our devices would often kick us off intermittently or require us to forget the network and log back in. We didn't realise how annoying this was until we went to another cottage the following week where this wasn't an issue.
Valentin was kind enough to allow us to bring our small cocker spaniel dog with us. The property is NOT registered as a fully dog friendly property and any acceptance of pets is entirely at the owner's discretion but if you are wanting to travel with your dog it might be worth asking. We were careful to ensure that we left the house clean and tidy as we found it and made use of the vacuum cleaner regularly during our stay.
Everything you could possibly need is there - the house is extremely well equipped and clean. We didn't want for anything during our stay. The nearest shop and bakers was about 10km away in Lusingy sur Barse. Troyes was a half hour drive. The garden was lovely with good furniture too. The cottage is part of a group of cottages owned by the same company and the cottages are joined in a sort of terrace. We were concerned this would mean we would be disturbed by noise but we needn't have been - it was perfectly well sound proofed and we barely heard the family next door (and hope they didn't hear us!).
The cottages are linked to two restaurants which were both very good in terms of food and a meal for 4 adults with a couple of drinks was 120e.
Everything worked well - the kitchen was well equipped with even a small dishwasher. There was ample crockery and cooking utensils etc.
All in all we had a fabulous stay and would want to go back again.
The only negative I could give this property would be the value for money or price - just under 1000e for the week in July (and having checked the website today even out of season next spring is 700odd euros). Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely cottage and clearly there is a premium to be paid for both quality and the closeness to the lake. However, although the lake was lovely, there is very little else in the immediate vicinity. Everything is either a car ride or a bike ride away - even the bakers. We paid half the price for a very similar property in Nice a couple of years ago where everything was on the doorstep and so convenience would have merited a higher price. Equally, our second week was spent half hour from Epernay in the countryside and was just 400e for a very similar property just without air con. We booked late and so had limited choice especially with the dog and we had a fabulous time absolutely will be visiting again. However, I do think a revision of prices may be in order by the owners, in particular when visitors are also likely to eat at one of their two restaurants (and the only of their kind nearby) as we did. Other than that, there really are no negatives about this property and not only will we be back but we have also suggested a few friends visit as we have some friends living in the area at the moment who have lots of visitors.
We spent 3 nights in two cottages and had an amazing time. Our host Valentin made sure we had everything we could wish for! The view was perfect and it was only an half hour drive to Troyes. We will definitely come back!!
