“Total Relaxation!”
Reviewed November 13, 2010

From the moment you arrive and get through the gates the service is a amazing. The food amazing, the rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated! Management is great, very enjoyable company for dinner. and the staff is always available and very helpful. The view is amazing, and it is centrally located between some attractions.

We stayed at Hacienda Puerta Del Cielo in late July, 2010. Although we stayed just one night we felt recharged and pampered. The character and situation of the place reminds me of some escapist boutique resort one would expect to find in Pacific coast of Mexico, the Yucatan, or Belize. After a month of roughing it at our rustic off-grid project about thirty minutes away it was a real treat and a surprise to stay in a resort style hideaway in this part of Nicaragua. The manager, Luis Alberto, along with his staff, attend to the guests personally. The location is prestine, the huge, big sky views of the Masaya volcano and laguna are ever changing, and the solitude is a welcome relief from the buzz and hum of the more settled parts of Nicaragua.

We were there during the "green season", meaning the rainy season. Rain was NOT a problem. It rained sporadically at night and briefly at other parts of the day. The comforts of our casa and the resort complex allow for plenty of respite from the mid-day sun, to read, sip a frosty one, or surf the internet. This place was perfect to eat, sleep, get wet in the infinity pool (one of the better pools I have seen in Nicaragua), and disconnect from being busy and overstimulated. Nice place to reboot your senses.

The place seems designed for an all inclusive retreat boutique resort experience. They can arrange tours, transfers, the works. One could easily do a "see the best of Nicaragua" series of day tours, and station one's self in a luxurious complex situated in nature reserve surroundings. An alternative for those with Latin American rental car skills is to home base at the Hacienda, and drive out when you feel like exploring on your own. (very safe as long as you pay attention every second.) Your main risk is that you might waste the rental car days, as you may not even want to go anywhere else than the Hacienda Puerta Del Cielo. Now that is relaxed!

This hotel is one of a kind in Nicaragua. It is off-road and makes you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle. The pool is very relaxing. It is a great place for couples to go, but do not bring your children here. We had the honeymoon suit which was air conditioned. The owner, Luis, is very dedicated to making your experience above and beyond your general expectations. He drove us to his favourite hammock dealer at the market in Masaya. He also provided transportation to the resort and to the hotel. He made sure our meals were authentic Nicaraguan cuisine.

"I chose to stay at Hacienda Puerta Del Cielo Eco Spa via word of mouth, and on that note I was so delighted and can't begin to express the hidden gem I've discovered! This Eco Lodge is so magically spirtual! A peaceful retreat to just relax, sun bath, swim in the river pool, or receive a massage you'll never forget! The chef cusine and services is over the top along with unique rooms & cottages with views of the lake and birds of paradise at play. You can even see the active volcano smoking every morning.

Nicaraguan people are very friendly, the country is incredibly safe and inexpensive. If your out on the town, a couple can have a nice steak dinner and a bottle of wine for $20. Plus, there are so many things to see and do in Nicaragua that your schedule can be as full as you like or totally empty for relaxation.

Things to do in Nicaragua include: exploring Granada (The oldest city in all of the America's) and Leon or hiking volcanoes and national parks, fresh water and salt water fishing, world class surfing, zip lining from tree top to tree top, relaxing on the beach, eating fabulous native foods and so many more options! Or just enjoy your stay and surroundings off the beaten path at Hacienda Puerta Del Cielo Eco Spa.

I can't wait to return."

Traveled to Hacienda Puerta del Cielo after hearing about a new hotel in this area of Nicaragua which has no quality tourism establishments. Went with a girlfriend with a plan of "relaxing" in mind. We had a geat time -- exploring the area during the dayt (very close to the volcano and to the town of Granada) and relaxing in the pool and restaurant that night. The hotel is first class - great furniture, finishes and the staff very attentive. The next day we decided to hang out all day in the pool (swim up bar included) and enjoy the scenery (view of lake and volcano). Great food, great time -- definitely worth the visit. Nicaragua needs more of these quality, luxury hotels!
