Missed opportunity!

While this hotel is part of a chain, which includes some nice looking properties in other indonesian locations, the Inna Samudra falls below the 4* standards of it's siblings. The reason - it appears not to have had any maintenance or re-fit since it's first build in the late 1960's.

Having said that, it's a great location right on the beach, is good value and it's one restaurant turns out reasonable local and international fare (from a limited menu). The pool, between the hotel and the beach is large and inviting. The beach is long wide and slopes gently into a very pleasant surf.

We would recommend it for the traveller who can put up with the tired decor and lack of modern amenities. Look past this and it's a pleasant spot. It's a shame you have to though - this place would be a jakartan's top weekend getaway if only it could pull it's socks up!

This Hotel although a little rough around the edges is really an unmissable expeiriance.
Set right on the beach and fronted by a very large pool it was one of the first "international hotels built in Indonesia - and nothing seems to have changed since about 1967. It really is a unique expeiriance.
Of special note is the room reserved for "Nye Lora Kidal" or the Goddess of the South seas. It is site to behold all done out it shades of Turquoise with a large portrait over the bed and hats and shoes and dresses ready for her in the wardrobe.
Other than for its curosity value the hotel does have a great location and every room has a perfect ocean view. The rooms and service and not fantastic but ok for the price.
