“Paul Bocuse, great BUT not 3 stars”
Reviewed January 20, 2014

Wonderful surroundings, great menu, only two negatives, the fillet steak Rossini for main course could not cut steak with knife and meat chewy. Second negative, not enough time between courses to digest food and portions quite large for seven course menu, left completely full, unable to sleep as bloated all night.

“the best meal ever!”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

this visit reminds us of the movie Rattatoulie. the house is gorgeuous and the servisse very impressive. They are reaaly pros. Then comes the food: we 've taken the traditional menu and all we 've eaten was wanderfull. i wonder how they cook such simple and neat dishes with such flavour. unforgettable. even a simple White Alfredo-like sauce was outstandingly remarkable.

“The pope of the kitchen.”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

Paul Bocuse was the frist chef who actually came out of his kitchen to communicate with his guests. Apparently it was his mother's doing.
I have eaten in his restaurant in Collonges on many occasions in the past 23 years and it was always perfect. The food very traditional and very rich but of excellent quality. The service impeccable. Mr. Bocuse is a very respected and kind man and a world famous chef. If financially possible, this is absolutely a place to go on your visit to Lyon, if only for the experience of having been there and tasted the warm reception and gastronomical excellence. The date stated does not correspond for my visits were before 2013. Since I am new on trip advisor there was no opportunity to give an opinion before.

“Tradition and style”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

This is more than a museum (although it is that, too) - a fine restaurant with good though not outstanding food and a wonderful traditional ambience; the service was very attentive and - surprisingly - un-snotty, the sommelier had a terrific recommendation of a wine that went well with each course of the extensive tasting menu (a 2010 Condrieu Chaillées de l'Enfer). Portions were pretty large - a bit too large really for a multi-course meal, and the choice of desserts was simply overwhelming; the waiters kept bringing more and more until the room seemed to be filled with bowls and plates and carts of sweets. Good though not outstanding - for example, the famous truffles soup with a puff pastry top did not really taste of truffles, and other courses also seemed a bit bland. Still, to get a reminder of what French cuisine was like in the 1970s and 1980s this is the place to go to.
