“One place you must experience!”

Friendly, family run retreat with exceptional service.
The villas are tastefully decorated and ideally situated with a mountain backdrop and sea views. Everything has been thought of and supplied, from the corkscrew to the washing machine.
This retreat is for the young and old as everyone is catered for. There are two swimming pools and a child's pool as well as a children's playground. A stone BBQ is also available for your use.
You need to rent a car to get to the retreat and for access to the local supermarket and nearby beach.
Thoroughly recommend it.

“Outstanding hospitality and thoughtfulness from villa owners”

We stayed a week at St George's, and what makes it shine like a beacon compared to other villas in northern Crete is the kindness and warmth of the owners, Stefanos and Roula. The houses are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Each villa has several terraces with views down the mountain to Souda Bay, and the property is set in an orchard of pomegranates, plums, figs and apples, which guests are encouraged to pick and eat. There's a welcoming bottle of wine, the fridge is stocked with essentials, and Stefanos and his wife are on hand to make sure you lack for nothing. Their knowledge of local history brings an added dimension and understanding of the character of this region, which has been fought over for centuries. But now, apart from the sound of sheep bells and ravens, or the occasional passing plane heading for Chania airport, there's absolute tranquillity - so the only caveat is that if you want to explore beyond the immediate vicinity, a car is pretty well essential. And these wonderful hosts can sort that out for you too.

“A True Gem, Fantastic Villa in a beautiful part of Crete”

We have just returned from two fantastic relaxing weeks at St George's Retreat where we holidayed with another family. Both villas were beautifully appointed with everything you could need. The whole complex was extremely clean and well kept and the hosts Stefanos and Roula made you feel very welcome indeed. There was a welcome pack on arrival so there was no need to dash straight to the supermarket, even some delicious home made marmelade and olive oil! Thoughtful touches in the villa, fresh flowers, toiletries etc. made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The position of the villas provided beautiful views of the sea and mountains. My three boys loved it there especially the pool. We have stayed in many villas over the years and this is by far the best. We were very sorry to leave and look forward to coming back!

“Very relaxing setting with modern, well appointed villas.”

Our landlord and landlady, Stephanos and Roula, were very friendly, and brought us some wine and food treats. The appartments were clean, modern and well equipped. The villas were partially air conditioned. The site included nine villas, two pools, a children's play area and plenty of fig and olive trees. The cicada insects were quite noisy (high summer) but I got used to the noise and didn't notice it much after a couple of days. The location had a feeling of spaciousness and, being at a slight elevation above sea level, the air felt quite fresh and not overbearing with the heat. There were plenty of friendly restaurants and places to see.

“A beaultiful location with warm hospitality.”
Reviewed August 6, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

Having booked at the last minute, and chosen with the advice of this web-site, I was extremely impressed by the quality of the villa, the beautiful location and the high standards of the site. Stephanos and Roula were firendly and helpful, with tthe unexpected treats of home made wine and food. Our villa was spacious, clean and tastefully presented and yet also managed to hold onto some rustic charm and character. This retreat has been carefully planned and offers guests beautiful views, tranquility and pool side relaxation. We had a great time.

“Fantastic accommodation and truly amazing hospitality from the owners”
Reviewed June 10, 2011 for a stay in June 2011

We found that the accommodation, facilities and location (amazing views) at St Georges Retreat were perfect in every way. We stayed for 1 week in June with our young family and the owners (Stafanos and Roula) hospitality made our stay a holiday to remember! We have a rule that we don't go back to the same place twice but I feel this may be broken for the first time! I will be recommending St Georges Retreat to friends and family so that they can also share in this experience!
