Nice ocean view from the breakfast room, one of our best breakfasts ever (homemade muffins!!), jacuzzi in our room, the host gave us useful information about the neighborhood and about the rest of our stay in SA, the beach is beautiful but there's nothing more to see. We enjoyed it here!

Hidden up a little back road, Dolphin Crescent, is this gem of a b&b. Our room was immaculate and had sea views in two directions. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, with both a large bath and a shower. Our host and hostess were very friendly, chatting to us and giving us valuable information for our trip while we ate a delicious breakfast. We would highly recommend Lalaria Lodge as a place to stop for a night or two. It is within twenty minutes' drive of Durban's airport but does not suffer from aircraft noise. Shakas Rock itself we did not find particularly exciting, although the beach is beautiful. We arrived the day after a mini-typhoon, so the weather was not particularly good but the beach was very dramatic. We would have liked to stay another night but our itinerary did not allow it.

Room Tip: Our room - which we highly recommend - was downstairs on the right.

I can't speak highly enough of Lalaria I was sorry we had only booked two nights and I would have no hesitation to return or recommend to others. The owners Caryl and Error could not be more welcoming and friendly a perfect balance of a homely but professional feel. Lalaria combines the welcome of a small guest house with the quality style and comfort of a boutique hotel. Breakfast is equally fabulous
The rooms are great lovely big comfortable beds the design of the building meant our room had great views and also privacy
A wonderful start to our first time in KZN and out return to SA

Recently stayed for 4 nights at Lalaria at the end of a 17 day holiday in Kwa Zulu Natal.Caryl and Errol made us most welcome and we really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are wonderful and the breakfasts are great. Many good restaurants within a 10 minute drive and on the Sunday we drove to The Oyster Box at Umhlanga for lunch (very windy day but a great meal).
Would certainly recommend Lalaria and would definitely stay there again !

We have stayed at Lalaria three times now and cannot wait for our next trip! Caryl and Errol are excellent hosts and make you feel most welcome. It is a wonderful place and cannot fault it. The breakfasts are out of this world with a great choice. There are excellent restaurants a short drive away especially Beira Alta - you must sample the prawns they are to die for. We also had afternoon tea at the Oyster Box in Umhlanga about half an hour's drive away which was most enjoyable.

There are also good golf courses nearby and found the challenging nature of " Sibitha " most endearing. Errol even lent me his spare set of golf clubs!

Excellent standard of accomodation and a lovely building. Exquisite linen and service, a wonderful breakfast and lovely pool, very relaxing though sadly the weather let us down a little. Location is a little isolated as nowhere to dine without a car but a good selection of local places to eat within a 10 min drive and those we used were excellent.

Not quite the undisturbed seaview we expected but very nice never the less so an excellent place to stay to avoid the hustle of Durban and busier resorts.
