From what everyone says, the Maldives is THE place to go for your honeymoon, and so my wife and I decided to make the trip there for our honeymoon. My wife and I are glad we made that decision.
Whenever I see photos of beautiful, serene, tropical getaways with crystal clear waters and other breathtaking views, I always think these photos were just photoshopped or enhanced to make the destinations look better than they really are. Oh was I proven wrong at OBLU SELECT at Sangeli! It was just like the photos or even better!
What was more amazing than the view, was the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. Their courtesy and smile made you feel welcomed and important. Yes, hospitality is part of their core business, but that part of the trip definitely made an impact, and OBLU SELECT did a wonderful job at it. My wife and I made a few friends from the amazing staff that were there during our stay. From the moment we stepped foot on the resort, we were greeted by name and warmly welcomed by Mr. Farrukh. He explained the schedule and layout of the resort and assured us that he is available anytime, if we had any questions. I wish I had better memory to mention more of the amazing staff that would greet us as we walked past during our exploration of the beautiful resort.

Next was the food and drinks! OBLU SELECT is all inclusive, so we did not have to worry about carrying money with us when we went to get food or drinks. The Courtyard is their main restaurant at the resort, which is mainly buffet style, but also had live cooking and grilling stations. There was plenty of seating and a great view of the beach. They also had two sit-down restaurants: Just Grill and Simply Veg; both of which gave you a more private dining experience. These restaurants are available on pre-booking basis, but I believe based on your arrival and length stay they will schedule complimentary lunch or dinner at both sit-down restaurants for you. During one of our meals, we happened to meet Mr. Carlton Fonseca, who is the Manager of Food and Beverage at OBLU SELECT. Carlton was very friendly and sociable; whenever, he would see us he would always take the time to greet us and ask how we were doing. On our last night at the resort, Carlton set us up with a beautiful and memorable sit-down dinner at Just Grill. He and the staff set us up in a more private location near the beach and surround us with lights. I want to thank him and his staff for going out of their way to set that up for my wife and I. I also want to thank Mr. Vishnu and Mr. Suresh at The Sangs Bar, who would take the time to talk with us and share their experience.
My wife and I got the Deluxe Beach Villa with a pool. It was beautiful and well maintained and plenty of space. Our first night there, housekeeping provided us with turndown service and beautifully decorated our bed by spelling out “Happy Honeymoon” with flowers. All Villas, have a fridges that are restocked daily with drinks.
They have a Diving Center & Watersports area where you can get snorkeling set and go out and snorkel within the lagoon and reef line. Pro Tip: make sure you get the snorkeling set the first day and go out snorkeling and see all the beautiful coral reefs and fish life and not regret getting it the last day like I did. The also have non-motorized water sports like kayaks, peddle boats, and stand-up paddle boards, which is all free. They have motorized water sports like jet ski and water skiing, but you have to pay.
Based on your length of stay, the resort also gives you complimentary excursions. During our stay, we got to visit a local island and see how Maldivians live and we got a guided group snorkeling tour of the coral reef.
Overall, my wife and I had a delightful and memorable honeymoon at OBLU SELECT. We definitely recommend this resort to people looking to book a trip to the Maldives.More
