“Great pub!”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Having driven past a few times always on the way to somewhere else, I finally managed to make a visit to The Pickled Ploughman, and I am so pleased I did.

A really nice looking bar area stocked with some of my favourite refreshments and very welcoming staff and chatty regulars. It was a warm summers evening so a draught Stowford Press and I waited for a friend and had a good look around and found a nice and decent sized restaurant and out back a decked patio area and spacious car park.

Friend and two burgers soon arrived. Having enjoyed some of London's best burgers bars this was certainly comparable and presented just right, the flavoursome beef patty was served medium, with crisp salad and crunchy fries and accompanied by a lovely spiced tomato relish.

I have since found out the owners have taken over and are in the process of refurbishments to the our local pub The Red Lion in Wendlebury, and on the basis of this visit I'll be one of the first in the queue to welcome html to our village!

“Good Sunday lunch”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

We had an excellent roast beef lunch here, very tender pink beef with a good Yorkshire pudding and well cooked vegetables. Plates not overfilled but plenty to eat. Good wine list, we had the Merlot. A good homemade lemon tart, decent pastry and tart lemon filling. Extra gravy available. The only minus point was a piece of elderly celery with the cheese. Good to be able to choose which cheese you prefer. Very good coffee and friendly waitress service.

“A beautiful English pub with brilliant service”
Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

I was recommended this pub through someone else. It is has a lovely countryside feel to it with beautiful decor . I received outstanding customer service from beginning to end. Marina went our of her way to ensure that we were looked after well. I highly recommend this restaurant whether you live locally or are just visiting the area. The sea bass and banoffie pie is a win!

“Would definitely recommend a visit”
Reviewed August 2, 2014

We enjoyed a really good meal here, staff are very friendly and attentive, service good but not intrusive. Try the firecracker prawns they are delicious as was the fish and chips. We'll definitely return.

“Expensive average food”
Reviewed July 29, 2014 via mobile

Called in at 8pm on a Sunday as the sign outside advertises food served all day. We were advised when we enquired about food that of the 15 or so choices they only had 4 available. I chose sausage and mash. Asked for veg as it came with just sausage mash and gravy and was charged £3 extra which I thought was steep. Hubby had the burger which was fine. Went to get more drinks mid dinner and was asked if we wanted dessert and if we did were asked to order now as chef was going home. Again only 3 puddings left out of the 6 or so on the menu. Food was fine, nothing special. Drinks very pricey (£4.50 Peroni) and average service. Wouldn't hurry back
