Finding an appropriate venue for a family get together, during a visit to England, was made considerably easier as I was staying close to Brightwell Baldwin and remembered The Lord Nelson from a visit some years ago.

Luckily it was still there, accessed via a continuum of well tended hedged lanes. The food and ambience was also the way it should be, well presented, well cooked and delicious and enjoyed in front of a log fire.

The daily specials were all tempting as were the à la cart and set menu offerings.

Between the five of us we chose pork belly, chicken, risotto, bream and a burger. All were nicely plated with fresh vegetables. They were universally delicious.

The service was professional and the deserts were all very tasty.

The lady in charge, Amanda, was very personable and quick to answer our questions about the pub and general area.

All in all a very enjoyable lunch. The Nelson will definitely be on my list of places to visit the next time I am in England.

Taken as a guest, the three of us had an excellent experience. This is really a village pub, reached by lanes through rural countryside and opposite an old church. The old pub environment provided an attractive and comfortable ambience. We each had different dishes, two roast and one fish dish, all of which were generous, good quality food and well presented. The service was good and the staff extremely pleasant.

Took my family to The Lord Nelson for Sunday lunch, such a lovely experience. Beautifully relaxed, vibrant atmosphere, service was impeccable, and the food did not let disappoint. Opted for the Sunday roast, would highly recommend this lovely place for food and drinks!
