Finding an appropriate venue for a family get together, during a visit to England, was made considerably easier as I was staying close to Brightwell Baldwin and remembered The Lord Nelson from a visit some years ago.
Luckily it was still there, accessed via a continuum of well tended hedged lanes. The food and ambience was also the way it should be, well presented, well cooked and delicious and enjoyed in front of a log fire.
The daily specials were all tempting as were the à la cart and set menu offerings.
Between the five of us we chose pork belly, chicken, risotto, bream and a burger. All were nicely plated with fresh vegetables. They were universally delicious.
The service was professional and the deserts were all very tasty.
The lady in charge, Amanda, was very personable and quick to answer our questions about the pub and general area.
All in all a very enjoyable lunch. The Nelson will definitely be on my list of places to visit the next time I am in England.
