The whole hotel is organised as huts and bungalows in a beautiful jungle garden connected via footbridges. The management really cared about aesthetics and atmosphere. During our stay the staff was gardening to maintain this view.

Bungalows are very comfortable with spacious rooms, terraces with hammocks, tables, banks etc. Everything very clean and in good condition.

The restaurant is in fact a little bit pricey, probably due to the location (remote area, NOT in the village). But it is delicious.

Staff is very polite and helpful, provide good information and very friendly.

Things to consider:

It is a RAINFOREST...that means it is hot and humid and it will probably rain. YES this is also possible during dry season (this is nature!!!)
If you can't handle it without A/C you should consider, wether this touristic experience is something for you.
Also you are surrounded by forest, that means you probably encounter some animals (bugs, geckos etc.) And they make noises and don't follow rules...if you have a light sleep you should take oropax with you.

Hi Marta P,

Thanks for taking the time to review Khao Sok Riverside Cottage, and especially for the 'Things to consider' section :) We always appreciate guests giving feedback directly to potential guests, and are grateful to you for sharing.
We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, and found everything to your liking, especially our jungle garden - this is a favourite of ours as well, and really sets us apart from other Khao Sok resorts. Thanks for noticing the hard work and effort that goes into maintaining such a project!
Regarding our restaurant prices, you are correct to say that our higher prices are due to a remote location. However, the entire village of Khao Sok is in a remote location, and every resort and restaurant must travel 200km round trip to pick up the essential ingredients. As a result, all restaurants in Khao Sok are expensive compared to the rest of mainland Thailand. We are in fact very competitive with other resorts in the area!
Thanks again for your feedback, it is great to hear from you! We hope to see you again in the future! Safe travels,

We had the opportunity to stay in Riverside cottages for 3 nights and we couldn't be happier with the service they offer!
First of all, they have a wonderful restaurant on sight, where we tasted the most delicious Thai curry of our lives! They have so many options, specially for us Vegan.
You can book some activities and day tours there, we recommend the full day lake tour, where you hop on a long tail boat ride through the national park and will see some beautiful limestone cliffs.
We also did some canoeing through the river and had the most amazing elephant experience, on a place where they are really looked for and with an ethical policy.
Thank you so much Riverside, we hope to come back some day.

Room tip: The riverside bungalows are the best

Hi Freeoversea,

It's great to hear from you, and even better to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us so much! We're pleased to have been such a positive part of your Khao Sok experience :) Thanks for mentioning our restaurant! We are so proud of the laid-back, friendly ambiance we have managed to create there along the river, and of the excellent, talented kitchen staff we have managed to build. We will definitely let them know they made the best Thai curry you've ever had!!
Wishing you safe travels, and hoping to see you again in the future. All the best,

We arrived at Khao Sok Riverside Cottages for the 4 day, 3 night overnight lake tour package. I was really impressed with everything about this place; the staff were extremely helpful and welcoming as well as speaking excellent English, the food was fantastic (I highly recommend the roti with curry) and the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and importantly mosquitos nets which cover the whole bed. The location was picturesque; each cottage is surrounded by nature and the noises that accompany the wildlife who live there. It is located right beside a river (hence the name) which the restaurant / chill out area overlooks which is a lovey setting to eat your meals. We had a forest room and it was great sitting on the balcony in the hammock listening to all the different forest sounds and watching a playful pair of chipmunks in the trees. There is a fan in the room which keeps you nice and cool, plug sockets, WiFi and a flushing toilet. It is fairly basic but has everything you need for a clean and comfortable yet authentic experience. There are bugs, small lizards, the odd frog that joined me on a trip to the toilet but that is what makes the experience! And very few actually got into our room. The rooms are raised off the forest floor with walkways to reception so the majority of critters will be well below you.

The trips were all fantastic and every tour guide we had was really knowledgable and spoke good English. We did the night safari, canoeing, hot springs and the overnight lake tour where you visit a bat cave, hike up a waterfall in the jungle (not strenuous but take good grip shoes as you spend most of it walking up the actual waterfall) and take 2 wildlife boat trips. One thing to note is that we didn’t see much wildlife on the boat which isn’t a criticism obviously as you can never predict when you will or will not see wildlife and perhaps it was the time of year we went (end of November) but none the less the scenery is stunning. Hearing the gibbon calls was a highlight for me. The floating bungalow which you stay at was definitely an experience! The location was beautiful and so peaceful, with a lake you can swim and kayak in at your leisure. The bungalows themselves are very basic with literally a mattress on the floor, a pillow and a blanket. Just be aware that come nighttime the cockroaches like to make an appearance in the bungalows so if you are afraid of them sharing the bed with you I suggest buying a pop up mosquito net to take with you which I really wish I had done! The food once again was delicious, especially the fresh fish which we had for dinner.

We finished our last day with a trip to the hot springs and a fantastic viewpoint, followed by a Thai massage. This was the perfect way to round off an unforgettable few days.

I would highly recommend Khao Sok Riverside Cottages as somewhere to go if you want to be in the heart of nature and explore the beautiful national park. A truly beautiful place. I also thought it was extremely good value for money which was a bonus. We organised private transfers both ways which were on time and met by friendly drivers. The whole place is run really well and I can’t fault it.

Our experience here was decent! Yes, my sheets had stains. My only fan in the room was not working properly, but was replaced immediately with new fan. The location is amazing, it has the middle of the jungle feel! Their restaurant has amazing view of the river, they have games and books to relax in the restaurant area. My son spotted a water snake in the river crossing across. At night the frogs and other insects are LOUD! but that's expected being in the jungle or around the river! The reason I gave this place 3 stars instead of 5 is the waiter! He was very rude with my child, would snatch the menu from his hands. He was making frustrated expressions! My son is not a dramatic person nor was he misbehaving! He had standoffish attitude! My son asked me why was he being rude with him...! I have no idea why this waiter (the only Male waiter) was behaving in such manner. This made my experience sour! I did not know why was he having such an attitude with my son! There are no other Restaurants in the area!

Hi 223nishthas,

Thanks for your feedback, and for detailing the issues you experienced with one of our staff members. We are sorry for the negative impact this individual's actions had on your trip, and especially for the way his behavior impacted your son. There is no excuse for such behavior, and given that this is not the first time we have had to have this conversation with the person in question, we will be exploring disciplinary measures.
Aside from that unpleasantness, it is wonderful to hear that we were able to play such a lovely role in your family vacation! We have dedicated significant time and energy towards creating a safe, natural wonderland for families, so we're thrilled that you were able to enjoy this side of the Riverside Cottages!
Thanks again for your feedback, and for providing us with the valuable information needed to make a change. We apologise again for any inconvenience.
Best wishes,

When you arrive at riversides cottages, the first impression is ... you’re really in the jungle :-) . The threes , the sounds , everything . Then you arrive at the reception where your are welcomed by a smile and a fresh drink . The accommodations are amazing . The personal , friendly , helpful and always smiling . You are a little bit far from everything by foot but don’t worry , you will have everything you need over there ... and go to restaurant , the food is amazing ... But never forget you are in Thailand , so if you don’t like spicy :-) insist on the fact you don’t want spicy at all :-) . I clearly recommend that place for free days .

Hi christophe g,

We really enjoyed reading your review, and are happy that you enjoyed everything we have to offer here! We work so hard to provide the perfect blend of comfort and closeness to nature that you experienced, so it is always lovely to hear back from a satisfied guest :)
Thanks also for mentioning our wonderful Riverside Restaurant - some of the best food in Khao Sok, and an unbeatable ambiance! We'll be sure to let the kitchen staff know that you enjoyed their work.
We would like to add, for any potential future guests, that we do offer free shuttles into the village at three set times each day. This way, our isolated location doesn't keep guests from seeing and doing everything they would like.
Wishing you safe travels, and a quick return to Khao Sok Riverside Cottages!
Best,
