My wife and I and our daughter stayed at Our Jungle House for 3 nights in February 2021. Our cabin, Liana, was the last one on the jungle path. The cabin was impeccably clean. There is no A/C but none was necessary. There is a fan and the beds are covered with mosquito nets which work well.
The sounds of the jungle were amazing and amplified by the quiet setting; cicadas in the evening came to life and in the morning we were awakened by the "howling/wooing" of the gibbons. Loved it!
We did have some macaques land on the roof one morning and created a bit of a disturbance but they did not cause any serious problems. Follow the hotel instructions and don't leave food in your room and they won't be interested.
The local naturalist gave two talks, both of which were entertaining. We also took a 2 hour walk with him around the grounds and we highly recommend it.
The restaurant was also a highlight, we had many yummy meals and they catered well to our families tastes, including a vegetarian. I give the restaurant staff an A+ for their efforts.
The hotel staff were excellent in helping us book tours. We took one tour on the lake and highly recommend it. They arranged the boat and guide and since the tourists are almost non-existent, we had the lake to ourselves.
We also did a "combined" hike to see the Rafflesia flower and then to the "waterfalls". This is a non-standard hike and we don't recommend it. The hike to the flowers would be find and so would the hike to the waterfalls but the combined hike ended taking us down the fall-line of the waterfalls, clinging to vines and knotted ropes. Unless you are very physically adept, this can be difficult and even then, it is a bit treacherous. I doubt that the guides have any plan to rescue someone who falls and this is not a low-risk. I recommend doing the two hikes separately. The combined hike took us 8 hours and we were concerned with darkness, not a good feeling.
All that said, we highly recommend "Our Jungle House". They were make your Khao Sok experience wonderful.
