We live in the Hay-on-Wye area and this country pub ticks all the boxes for us. Book for a Sunday lunch and you will enjoy really top class roasts, interesting starters and wonderful home made sweets. A great atmosphere, good wines and beers and always lots of local people dinning. Reasonable prices and top class service. Evenings late in the week are also first class with Percy, the manager always helping to make the evening most enjoyable and again the food is all top quality and is better than you will find in most places in overpriced Hay-on-Wye

Set in the valley it has beautiful views out the back in the beer garden of the hills, amazing at sunset. The food itself was delicious I had a very nice fish pot followed by a sort of brownie/ice cream cake with what we thought was a quince on top. It was a very imaginative menu when you expect just 'pub grub' but it was delicious. I would have enjoyed having some music on in the background, but that's a personal taste as I don't like overhearing other people's loud conversations!

This is the place to enjoy excellent food and drink in an Olde World Inn with atmosphere in abundance. The staff are all friendly and very helpful with the menu changing regularly. If you want a real Sunday Lunch this is the place with locally sourced meat and vegetables and try the Lemon Posset or Meringue to finish. You will not be disappointed.

Can there be any better place to enjoy a Sunday roast than this perfect proper pub in the beautiful Wye Valley? Just a stone's throw into Wales, so enjoy a lovely pint of Butty Bach to wash down that very reasonably priced lunch. Excellent, friendly service to boot.

Called in here late on Sunday for a roast lunch and made welcome despite being close to the lunch session ending. Locally sourced roast beef was good and the bonus was the freshly roasted vegetables which were very tasty. A good hearty lunch. Finished with some nice desserts inc very tasty ice cream. A very good value £15 head inc drinks.
