Fasano is a hotel that in person is actually 1000x better than what you see online. What pictures and reviews cant translate very well is the feeling of being in this place. Its breathtaking. Wildflowers everywhere, sheep grazing in the fields, birds singing...its gorgeous.
What I loved about this hotel is that each bungalow ('bungalow' makes it sound so rustic..its definitely NOT) is basically its own seperate house. You have complete privacy. There are 2 room choices, but considering that the suite is twice as big as the standard, and is well worth it to upgrade. There are 2 huge sliding glass doors which you can open all the way up, making it feel like you dont even have one wall...its just you and 1000 acres of pristine nature.
The food was yummy...comfort food at its finest. This was not pretentious, artistic fusion food, this is home-cooked, country food with lots of ingredients from organic farms nearby. Think meat, pastas with homemade buffalo mozzerella, risottos, lots of wine, warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream. The restaurant Fasano, on top of a rock face with amazing views of the vast Uruguayan countryside, will be one of the most memorable dining experiences of your life.
The spa.....oh my god. Perfection in every detail. Each guest is welcomed with a complimentary hot stone foot massage with lavender oil. From there, check out the eucalyptus scented steam room, the dry sauna with relaxing music, or the warm infinity pool. The outdoor pool is stunning - it's carved out of a boulder, and is spring-fed, surrounded by wildflowers, and has a nearby bar which makes it so that you never want to leave.
What I couldnt get over at Fasano is how sensual it is. For example, in my room there was a 12 ft sheepskin rug...I swear I almost grabbed a pillow off of the large sectional couch and slept on the floor one night, : ) Each room is stocked with books, making it hard to leave to enjoy the other activities such as tennis, hiking, or horseback riding.
For me, I wanted to experience Punta del Este, to know it for a while, but I did not exactly want to participate in the circus or scene that is sometimes found in the city. This was a laid-back option, super tranquil, that let me get a taste of Punta and go running back quickly to the heavenly refuge that is Fasano. I warn you , it is not a place to stay for just one night, as you will not want to leave. If you can, try to plan on at least a few nights there to give yourself a well-deserved break, a time to deeply relax. I went in the off season, in October, and it was great. There was a lot to do still. Whereas Punta in the winter pretty much shuts down as no one goes to the beach, Fasano offers a great option for a getaway year round. Just go. Nothing I can say can accurately describe Fasano Las Piedras, so just trust me and book it. It is slightly expensive, but all of Punta is expensive. Fasano will at least give you a vacation experience that you will never forget. I was totally, completely enchanted by the place.

Why visit Punta when you can stay at the superb Fasano Las Piedras and be pampered 24h a day? Staff is very well trained and friendly, at the same time quiet and descreet. The rooms are probably the best I have ever stayed, with very modern architecture, spacious, confortable and quiet. The swiming pool, with natural yet heated runinng water, is a must. Food, no need to mention with the grife of Fasano quality present from breakfast to dinner. The Spa is also a must go. A heated indor pool with a view to the country fields makes one want to stay there endelessly.
Fasano Las Piedras is located some 15 minutes away by car from downtown Punta. But who wants to go to Punta and miss a minute of pleasure at Fasano?

The Fasano group’s international expansion begins in Punta del Este, with the hotel Fasano Las Piedras in one of the most extraordinary locations in Uruguay. The Fasano family brings its century old tradition in fine cuisine and in the art of serving to its new development in Punta del Este, one of the most elegant coastal towns in South America. Located in La Barra, the hotel Fasano Las Piedras was projected on an area overlooking the Maldonado River, with breathtaking views and surrounded by exuberant nature where you can enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets of the Uruguayan coast.
