Tucked away off the main road so nice and quite with own locked car park for residents.
Room was a good size, good shower, quality toiletries, tea tray with fresh coffee (ground on the premises) and milk in flask.
The room was badly let down by being unable to open the window as the clasp was broken, but most of all by the dust everywhere. I could write my name in the skirting boards! and the mirror in the bathroom was covered in splash marks.
It was a nice touch that they reserve a table for you incase you wish to eat. Menu had very good varied choices. My meal was fab, trout cooked to perfection.
It may be an idea to keep the kitchen door closed when residents are in that area of the dining room, I quite enjoyed the conversations re wedding outfits, mobile phones and the little expletives from the cook as was on buisness and alone so found it quite entertaining! But other guests might not be so liberal and laid back as me!
Did not have much breakfast but all looked good.
Service was excellent from all aspects.
Seems a shame that the housekeepers let this fab place down, would stay again though.

I will keep it brief - Dropped in for some food on a gorgeous Bank Holiday Monday with my wife and daughter, they are both vegetarians and both dairy intolerant. Now restaurants cope with this dilemma without difficulty – most pub restaurants don’t!
The staff were excellent, even seemed to know what ingredients were in the kitchen. We were all catered for and enjoyed a tasty late lunch. We will be returning.

This is my favourite restaurant in Chew Valley!! I have never had a bad meal. It may be a little more expensive than other places within the Valley, but you are paying for quality. We last went for a small family meal and as always it was fully booked (you should definitely make a reservation), but the service was still fantastic and the food was still top quality. I have never stayed in the accommodation, however, I know people who have and they cannot fault it. Specials are different every time I go and there is always a great choice on offer.

We attended the carpenters arms as a group of 21 for a family party, we had the function room and the staff were absolutely brilliant. The food and service couldnt be faulted at all i opted for the soup of the day (which was mushroom) and i am so glad i chose that as it was by far the best mushroom soup i have tasted, for mains i chose the beef suet pudding served with mash and peas, the pudding was also perfect, melt in the mouth and was thouroughly enjoyed by everyone who had this, and as for the pudding all i can say is wow, Lemon meringue cheesecake it finished the meal of perfectly. The service was super and definately not rushed just how we liked it as left us with plenty of time to chat to others during courses. Am so glad we chose this pub for our special family party it will certainly be one not forgotten for a while and will definately use again.

One small thing hand cut chunky chips are NOT oven chips, do not use flowery language on your menus it just irritates the customers and the food was very good, the Carpenters is a lovely place and we enjoy returning again and again over the years!

Decided to try the pub for an evening meal after a number of years away but won't be going back again. I ordered crab & lobster salad for starter which was very nice although small & over-priced. However the main course was a complete let down. I ordered beef suet pudding which was served with chips and peas. The chips were bland and the peas under-cooked. The worst though was the suet pudding. The suet pastry was hard on the outside and uncooked on the inside. It was totally inedible. I left most of the meal but it was cleared away without comment. I would say it was the worst pub meal I've ever had.

My wife and I stayed at the Carpenters Arms for one night but wished it was longer. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and recently refurbished - very tasteful. The atmosphere and food in the bar/restaurant were just superb. Highly recommended!!
