Real Ale = excellent, very well kept. Accommodation = very good, spacious and clean rooms, good hot water supply. Lunch = extremely good, the Haggis Stuffed chicken over cabbage with Neeps & Tatties was great. Good value generally. HOWEVER, the breakfast service and being hounded off the premises when we were fully aware of the 10am check out was rude, abrasive and frankly when on a long tour not what you want. They wanted us to pay and leave, they made it quite clear. A disappointing end to an otherwise pleasant stay.

I am delighted that there are so many positive aspects of your stay that you and your companion have commented on, however, as discussed at the time, breakfast finishes a 9am, and we therefore felt that a gentle reminder at 9.35am was not out of order. Unfortunately, relations between us were strained from then on, but we are unfortunately unable to offer services throughout the morning as other aspects of the business must be prepared for incoming guests.

The Swan had been recommended to us by a friend and she was spot on, this is a fantastic find. The manageress was welcoming and friedly as were the rest of the staff, they were very helpfull even though we struggled to choose from the awesome menu and very knowledgeable about the dishes offered. I chose a combination that I had not had before - chicked stuffed with haggis with neeps and tatties and a glorious red wine jus, this was absolutely fantastic and a very good platefull of food. If you want good quality food in beautiful surroundings book yourself a table and enjoy.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food is good and the owners very welcoming and helpful. Lovely display of hanging baskets. Well placed for exploring Northumberland. Reccomend a visit to Morpeth its county town.

After a hugely disappointing evening a year ago, we returned to see if things were back to a good standard - and they were. Excellent food, lovely environment - and the big change: good service from a new waitress on her first day. A good evening.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They were very understanding of our needs; as we were doing the Newbiggin triathlon, we had an early start as well as having a tandem with us that we needed to store, but none of this was a problem.

Rooms are large and comfortable and come with nice touches like the water and mints and the beautiful hanging baskets outside.

We had a beautiful meal the night before and would definitely stay here again.

Upon our arrival we were met by the owner so we could check in,She was very helpful, friendly and informative, not knowing the area we decided to book a meal in the pub,The room was clean and spacious, although Saturday was a chilly night, could have done with the heating on,but we were well wrapped up,thermals on in August,The food was excellent, freshly made, and well worth the price,Breakfast was also excellent. We had the full English which set us up for the day,Staff very friendly, lovely atmosphere in the pub,all in all a brilliant weekend, excellent value for money, would recommend this hotel to anyone and would return here again,

We live quite local to this hotel and used eat here on a regular basis, but for whatever reason not recently, so we decided to have lunch there over the weekend. Between us we had carrot and corriander soup, which was nice, a mixed grill and Thai style fishcakes. The grill was well cooked, lovely egg, but the only meat was gammon and a sausage. The chips were home made, that was nice. The fishcakes were very disappointing, consisting of mainly salmon and perhaps some white fish. The only flavour we could detect was the salmon, the only thing that was remotely Thai tasting was the chilli sauce which I suspect was direct from a botttle. This along with two beers (which my husband said were good) and a diet coke coke cost just over £25.00. Expensive for a bar lunch which was not memorable in any way. Unless we hear some glowing reports in the near future we will dine elsewhere.
