Spent one night at the Inn and was impressed. The rooms are adequate and comfortable. Coffee and tea making faacilities are in all rooms. There is liquid soap in the bathroom but none of those small bottles of shampoo etc. So if you stay make sure you have then with you. It was a Friday night when we arrived and George told us we would be best booking a table so as not be disappointed. We duly booked one and were given a great table with a great view. The menu is quite extensive and we took some time to study it. I am glad we did as the food turned out to be excellent. Starters, main course and puddings were all excellent. My compliments to the chef. Breakfast is cereal followed by full English, toast, tea coffee etc. The rooms were appropriately priced. The meal was well worth the money and I hope that I have to return to the area as I would visit George and his staff again for an overnight stay and meal!.

We have just returned from yet another great weekend at the Three Wheatheads in Thropton. All the staff are extremely helpful and always wear a smile. We felt so sorry for the owner George and his staff as when we arrived on Saturday 25th August the gas has just gone off around 5pm. They were fully booked in the restaurant and after waving his magic wand they adapted the menu so everyone would get a lovely meal. On Sunday they even managed to serve a full Sunday lunch carvery and evening menu. When we left on Monday (Bank Holiday) they were still waiting for a gas engineer to appear.
Well done to everyone, you did not let us down.

We were extremely hungry after a long bike ride in the rain and as soon as we stepped inside the three wheat heads we knew this was the country pub we were looking for. There was a carvery on the go however we ordered off the menu. Having both ordered starters (Pate and soup) which were lovely we were looking for to the mains. We had Lamb shank served with an excellent gravy sauce and a Lamb Kapama (a Greek dish with rice). The portions were massive and the food was lovely. If you are in the area make sure you stop here (and also make sure your very hungry)

A lovely hotel in Thropton. We stayed for one night and could not have been better looked after. We stayed with our dog Bruno and they were so considerate to us as pet owners. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food was absolutely lovely. We would highly recommend the Greek dishes, I had the Lamb Kapama and it was just delicious. We will most definitly be back! All of the staff are very friendly without being intrusive and cannot do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The room was newly decorated and immaculate and easily the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in, the mattress and pillows were fab!

Room Tip: The back of the hotel looks over the hills (as does the restaurant) so the views are lovely.

We have tea and all the food was good. I had steak (mains) and it was lovely but the sides were a bit dull and brown (onion rings, chips and mushrooms). A bit to much for are liking truthfully. Nice views of the countryside. One of the better restaurants we have been to.

My wife and I took two friends from Worcester for a meal at The Three Wheat Heads on Friday 30th. June. Having read a rather pretentious and slightly disparaging review in the local paper, we weren't sure what to expect but, in the event, we were not disappointed.

The restaurant has a wide menu with a smattering of Greek dishes in addition to the usual English fare - it turned out that the chef is Greek, so we assumed that they would be OK. Our friends both had Beef Stifado (very good), whilst I had a sirloin steak which was very nicely done with a good selection of Veg to accompany it.

Only my wife wasn't entirely happy with her selection - she had a chicken dish which, although it was very well cooked and presented, was a bit disappointing because the chicken itself was a little bland. It may have been a one-off, or perhaps their supplier left something to be desired on that occasion. These things can happen at the best of restaurants.

The service was excellent:attentive without being stifling - and the ambience superb - the Three Wheat Heads has one of the best views you could imagine!!!

One minor suggestion for improvement? We sat close to the kitchen door which, when opened, tended to let a little stife out - maybe the extractor could do with being turned up? Otherwise, no problems and it's clear that the restaurant had improved enormously since the new owners took over! We'll be happy to go back.
