Stayed for short weekend break in a Gold caravan using Tesco vouchers and our experience could not have been more opposite to the 79% who do not recommend this site. The reception appeared to be new and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had 2 meals in the restaurant which were good value for money but not cordon bleu but that is not what we were expecting anyway. The site was clean and tidy and just a short walk from the beautiful unspoilt Druridge Bay and a little shop selling lovely homemade icecream. Would certainly use again.

I read the reviews before going and was slightly worried, as there are quite a few negative reviews of Cresswell Towers, but when we arrived i was so relieved at what we were greeted with.
We booked a long weekend break staying in a gold 2 bedroom caravan, in Millenium Gardens area. The caravan was fantastic, so i guess you need to pay that bit extra to get a nice standard. We saw a few older vans on the site and i think that is probably where the problems have been. At check in, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and so too was the lady who works in the small shop on site. We didn't venture in to the clubhouse while there as we were out most days and very tired in the evenings but it looked clean, and sold meals too which looked ok. The only negative thing would be the view of the entrance to club/ amusements. There were always people hanging around the outside, smoking and drinking, and swearing. I know smokers need a place to smoke but the entrance to their main ent complex is not the place.
The beach is only a very short stroll down a hill, max 5 mins walk. It is beautiful. You can walk all the way along to Druridge Bay.
We have stayed in Northumberland 3 times now and i would certainly consider Cresswell Towers again in the future, but only in a top of the range caravan.

Was awful, first caravan we stayed in was dangerous faulty electrics, smashed window held together with duct tape, unclean, not hoovered or cleaned for what looked like months, mould growing on blinds and curtains, greeted by a security guard at 5.30pm as the reception was closed. Beds painful with the spings attacking you all night, certainly not what you want after a 7 hr trip. Would have come away, but 4 excited children and paying out for our family holiday and being shattered ourselves we stayed. Had to get security guard to get bedding as not enough there even though booked for 8 peple to stay. Moved to another caravan, after arguments and them telling us could not be done till following day eventually moved the day of our complaint (after one night stay) with an upgrade but still disgusting, mould on curtains, dirty, mould on shelf in shower, then was asked to whether we wanted it cleaned or not!!! We were also expected to take the bedding from one van to the other!!!! Food in resturant disgusting, dry deep fried burgers to add to that you have to sit in with the family entertainment gooing on so couldn't enjoy your meal in peace, and at 7pm the family entertainment was bingo for over 18's only, so much for family entertainment. To get to food area and swimming pool we had to walk through the arcades not excatly what i wanted for my young children to see.. Most staff tried very hard to help manager was rude and argumentative askingme what i expected and he had upgraded us so what more did we want!!! A clean caraavn might have been nice. Children complained thats the beds were spiky in the night and kept stabbing them. Would not return there at all, which is such as shame as the area is bueatiful, beach fantastic, play area good, shame about the cleanliness state of the vans. Excuses by managemnet we only rent them out its up o the owners to look after... Surely cleaning and standards should be at a certain level for public rentals.

Stayed for a 5 night weekday stay - if it wasn't for the attractive area I would have turned the car around and driven home!!!
On arrival in caravan was immediately hit with an obnoxious smell. On inspection the whole caravan and its contents were filthy:
Mold on most windows, sinks and the shower.
Kitchen and shower plug hole filled with previous occupants debris.
Various stains on the walls.
Pubic Hair in the microwave.
Filthy crockery.
Food debris throughout the kitchen (toaster/fridge/counter tops)
Stained bedlinen
All floors covered in grass/crumbs.
All windows/mirrors smeared with fingerprints/marks
Shower head not connected to anything so couldn't have a shower.

Went to reception with a list of my complaints to hear a staff member say "reception is closed send her to the security guards" however the duty manager did offer a voucher for three meals and said that he would get someone to come and check the van. Another man came to inspect my complaints and informed me that the van had been cleaned, I argued the point asking if he would eat from the kitchen. Cleaner arrived after an hour and stayed for nearly two hours cleaning, whilst I scrubbed the kitchen area from top to bottom!!
Maintenance arrived at 10am the next morning with a kit to fix the shower so we could finally get clean.
Went to have our free meals which were of poor quality, and you felt slightly uncomfortable having to eat in the bar area with very loud children screaming with the "toddler" entertainement going on. The bar area itself was dirty, glasses and tables not cleaned. As for the entertainment, poor quality for anything other than toddlers, nothing for teenagers except a tiny arcade which is not really entertainment!!
Didn't try the pools as spent only the nights trying to sleep on uncomfortable beds with springs seemingly trying to attack you all night!!
However Cresswell beach is lovely with a small icecream shop, and the surrounding area is beautiful with lots to do within a short driving distance. I will go and stay in the area again, but never Cresswell Towers.

Recently returned from a stay at Cresswell Tower.

The caravan was so filthy with built up dirt. There was food smears in the kitchen, a filthy bathroom just generally really dirty.

The 'fully equipped' kitchen had nothing to cook on in the oven and nothing to get anything out of a pan with.

I complained and received a tiny roasting dish to use and was told that the state of the caravan was due to the age. This was a silver! I said there was nothing wrong with the age it looked quite modern, it was just filthy. Eventually on day 3 someone came to clean the caravan which made it only slightly better. Staff were rude when trying to complain made you feel like you were the problem.

Avoid this site - I've stayed at other park resorts sites that were much better
