Park R, General Manager at Cresswell Towers Holiday Park - Park Resorts, responded to this review, May 17, 2013
I am very disappointed that Cresswell Towers did not meet your expectations. Park Resorts has 39 holiday parks which are separated into leisurely and lively depending on the size of the park. Cresswell Towers is a leisurely park and maybe that is why on this occasion you found the facilities smaller than some of our other parks.

I am sorry you were disappointed with the food menu as we do constantly monitor our prices with our local competitors to ensure that are offering the very best menu for our guests. The entertainment team here on park work hard to create an enjoyable environment for our guests and I am only sorry that you felt that this wasn’t the case. I have passed a copy of your review to our Entertainment Manager for her information and to see if there are any improvements that can be made.

I hope that you will not let this put you off holidaying with Park Resorts in the future and with a choice of another 38 parks I am sure there will be a park that will suit all your requirements.

Thank you so much for your review it really does help us to improve the service we offer and we really do appreciate you taking the time.

Stayed at Cresswell towers recently, the caravan was clean and well equipped, we had a couple of problems which I reported to reception on our way to look round the area and on our return everything was sorted out ( very efficient). The staff were very friendly and professional and were only too pleased to help when I asked about a particular place in the area. The site was very clean and tidy (even bins screened from view), grassed areas were kept cut and although neat on our arrival were cut again during our stay. the multi-sports area looked well maintained and the children's play area well equipped. Also there is a very pleasant woodland walk on the site which offer the opportunity to view Cresswell Tower(photo attached)The beautiful beach at on druridge bay is only a few short walk from the park. There are many interesting places in the surrounding area. We WILL be staying again

We originally booked a platinum caravan, but this was changed by park resorts to a gold plus by email. The caravan had central heating which was efficient, but the quality of the fittings and bedding was disappointing. There was broken cutlery in the drawer, and not enough for the 8 person caravan, or a DVD player. The bedding and pillows (2 missing) were very thin, the quilt only just covered the bed when there was no-one in it, when we actually slept in it I put my dressing gown to hang over the side of the bed to stop draughts! The staff did provide the cutlery and pillows when asked, although the repair to the lock on the bathroom door didn't last long. The caravan was clean, but was tired. This was a shame because, overall, the site itself seemed fine. It was close to the sea, and the staff were friendly. The pool was small and the changing rooms would benefit from a bench to sit on and hooks to keep clothes off the wet floor. We enjoyed the swimming earlier on in the week, but the pool was too busy over the bank holiday weekend. To go swimming you have to pass through the slot machines. There was a playground for children, which my grandchildren loved, although it would benefit from some more equipment for younger children. The site was quiet, and seemed to be patrolled regularly. This could have been a good holiday, but we expected better from a top of the range caravan and the photos on line did suggest we would have something better than we were given.

Having spent a dreadful weekend at the Haven Blue Dolphin caravan park a couple of years ago we said never again for a caravan holiday. But the kids were desperate to go away in a caravan again so we booked one of the £15 per person breaks out of a newspaper. We opted for Cresswell Towers as it wasn't Haven, reviews weren't too bad and it wasn't too far from home if it was awful. I felt a bit cheated by the "extras" you had to pay for on top of the basic newspaper price but still we paid just less the £100 for 3 nights over the May bank holiday. Our caravan was fantastic! Central heating throughout and 2 bathrooms - felt more like a luxury apartment than a caravan. It turns out we had hit lucky and got a free upgrade to a gold caravan and we couldn't fault it, definitely worth it if you can afford to upgrade! The site itself was ideal for what we wanted - good play park for the kids (mine are 6 and 3 and it was perfect for them), great location for visiting Northumberland castes etc and only a short walk to beautiful beach. I only have 2 criticisms - the pool was a bit small and overcrowded (but I guess it was bank hol so expect it to be busy) with poor changing facilities. Only the baby change cubicle had a bench in it - it's virtually impossible to get dry and dressed with a seat. The other criticism would be the evening entertainment. Great mini disco to get the kids all excited followed by very strict bingo where the kids have to be kept quiet and you are told under no circumstances could the kids even mark the bingo paper as it is gambling and we shouldn't be teaching our kids to gamble. Followed by the kids show. Most stupid place to put the bingo! Why not do disco then show together? Don't want the kids to learn to gamble but expect them to sit quietly for an hour between the disco and show? Just stupid scheduling. But it's a national bingo game so I expect all Park Resorts site do the same thing. All in all though the kids had a great time and we have got to admit so did we. Would go back again for another weekend if the kids want to (which they do already,)

Room Tip: Gold caravan was fantastic

Thank you for your feedback. I am delighted that you decided not to let a previous bad experience put you off holidaying with us at Park Resorts. It is excellent that you found your accommodation to be luxurious and more like an apartment than a caravan and great to hear that your children enjoyed the play park.

I am sorry to read that the pool was very busy during your visit, but I have taken on board the comments that you have made regarding the changing rooms and I will look into how we can improve them for future guests.

The purpose for having the mini disco and entertainment before the bingo is that it is aimed at the under 5 year olds who usually go to bed before the 8pm children’s entertainment, I can only apologise that you were disappointed and will speak with the Entertainment manager about the evening Running order to see if we can make any changes moving forward.

We do take all feedback negative and positive extremely seriously and as a team we sit down each week with the reviews to see what improvements we can make to ensure that our holiday guests receive the very highest level of customer satisfaction.

It is very pleasing to read that you all enjoyed your time with us, so thank you for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!!

Stayed for 3 nights over May Bank Holiday. Caravan was spotlessly clean and really nice & comfortable. We were in woodlands which is very near to the club house and we could hear a bit of music when we were in at night but nothing to stop any of us sleeping. Our 4 year old had the time of her life - there is a lovely park to play on and the kids entertainers (Wacky Wes, Christina & Amy) were fantastic - Mollie even wrote in her school news book about Wes having pants on his head! The kids club is great through the day - lots of arts and crafts and then much busier, noisy and active at night. We were so lucky that the animal show was on when we were there - Steve was a brilliant entertainer for everyone. The pool is small but fine for families and the water walking was a great adventure. We only had one meal in the restaurant and there is a lot of choice and some good family deals. Drinks are a lttle bit pricy but no worse than any other holiday parks. Saturday night was really busy in the bar - we were lucky to get a table at 6.45 - lots of the owners get there really early and save tables so you need to be in early too or wait until after the bingo when some of the adults leave. We got this offer through the paper and it was a real bargain but I noticed a family booking up at full price again for the same weekend next year so clearly lots of people rate the place. My daughter can't wait to go back again!

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding your recent stay with us all here at Cresswell Towers.

We are extremely pleased that you were impressed with your accommodation and I will pass on your kind comments to the accommodation team who will be overjoyed by your review. I am also very delighted that your daughter had such a fantastic time here, so much so she wanted to share her memories in her school book. It’s great that she particularly enjoyed the entertainment provided by the entertainers and the animal show. I will be sure to pass on your comments to them also and they will be thrilled.

I am so pleased you managed to get a great offer in the newspaper and they are always worth looking out for to see what bargains you can get. Thankyou again for your review and we look forward to hopefully welcoming you all back to see us soon.
