What a base this hotel is. Not long drive to Newcastle, Bamburgh or even North Yorkshire or South Scotland.

Staff were fantastic every day. Food was precise and plentiful.

Cleanliness was excellent throughout.

We would definitely come again.

Came with a friend for Xmas this year and enjoyed it very much. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the accommodation is very good. You do need a car if you want to get about, although for Xmas there were plenty of activities. The hotel is good for dog owners as there are plenty of walks directly from the hotel. Would go again.

Good value hotel, with leisure facilities handy for Durham and the north east generally. Very friendly, and helpful, staff. Hotel somewhat dated but perfectly acceptable. Bar staff very friendly, and efficient.

Attended quite a few Christmas party nights here with friends .When we came last year there were quite a few issues with the food and DJ this resulted with us being given a discount for this year .So we decided to give it another chance. We always arrive at check in so we can have a few drinks in the bar on the afternoon to get in the Christmas spirit !The atmosphere is good and we had a good table near the stage and Christmas tree!! The food was better this year but still just Christmas fayre. Soup, turkey and Christmas pudding . The DJ played our requests and had everyone up dancing The two female singers were ok but not as good as last years band.
We were staying overnight so breakfast was included in the deal. This was served 8 -10 am we came down at 9.30 and had to wait to be seated there were no tables available in the main dining room so we were ushered into an adjoining room which was disappointing as the rest of our party were already seated in the main room . We gave our order for tea and coffee which came quickly however our breakfast order took an hour to arrive ! Another coupe cancelled their order and left while we were waiting. I cant understand the long delay as they know how many people are staying and would be wanting breakfast most people want a cooked breakfast so surely they could have bacon ,sausage etc ready .We mentioned the delay on checkout but the receptionist didn't seemed bothered.
