Stayed for 1 night, we were upgraded to the Bolbec suite, the staff were friendly and helpful, wish we had booked for longer, the only fault if it is one, a lot of stairs with heavy cases, not good for the less mobile of people. Beautiful well presented breakfast. Def will book again.

Stayed for one night with a groupon deal, very pleasant surroundings and lovely views. The room was spacious and had a wonderful view. The staff were very polite and helpful. The bar was warm and welcoming, and the restaurant was very pleasant. The three course meal in the offer had a good selection of creatively designed dishes, although service was rather slow - the couple behind us walked out in protest over the for their food! In the morning there was a great choice for breakfast, although our full English breakfasts came with a few items missing which were quickly replaced. Spa and swimming pool were great fun, sauna excellent. Would highly recommend. Only negative was that the music from one of the function rooms was very loud and kept us awake for awhile. Otherwise, excellent!

We stayed for 2 nights on a package deal. Hotel is in brilliant location. Staff were enthusiastic but seemed to be in training and did not know how tills worked etc. .bedrooms large and comfortable but water from taps a murky brown, with no bottle water alternative as fridge had been removed.
Drinks in bar usual hotel prices. Menu in restaurant was ok but almost everything came with a supplement ranging from £3,25 for a few mackerel flakes as a starter to £14 for a venison main course. Vegetables were all extra. On our second night the chef was being advised by guests/company representatives on how to make menu more varied. Not quite what you expect when you are having your evening meal and one of the ladies had a voice like a foghorn. Some business meetings are best held in private. Wifi in bar did not work and pool was closed during our whole stay. We used the bar several times due to bad weather, but wanted to have our own drinks in the room as we were getting ready for dinner. At £8 for a bucket of ice we gave it a miss. A few small changes would make this a really good hotel as it has lots going for it. Wouldn't recommend at moment there are others nearby which are better.

Many thanks comments are note our loud guest was giveing constructive comments to our chef these will be acted upon. Our water supply is from a natural spring and some times discolours but is perfectly safe to drink. Our menu is balanced and ala carte dishes are available. Our client deals are priced to offer all the chance to enjoy food and drink consumed bought on the hotel premises . Guest bring in own food and drink only lead to prices being increased.

Thank You.

My husband booked online for me to stay at this hotel after a dog show. I had been at shows in a caravan for 11 days and was looking forward to a nice bath, meal and bed before continuing my journey back to Scotland.
I drove 6 hours to reach the hotel, when I arrived the receptionist would not stand up and barely acknowledged me. I told him I had reservations, he rudely asked for my name. When I asked what the fee was the dogs, he glared at me and said 'you did not mention dogs when you made the reservation. we don't have any dog rooms.'I explained my husband made the reservation, didn't know he had to list the dogs as the website says PETS WELCOMED. I asked if there was a room available and he said NO not with the dogs.
It is against the law to leave dogs in hot cars so I could not leave them out there.
When I contacted the hotel a few days later I was told a different story, that there was a room for me with the dogs, the reception manager did not believe how rude her employee was either. I contacted Best Western and posted on their facebook page with my complaint.
The hotel manager was to contact me which he never did.
I finally received a refund with a few pounds extra added on for my room but it took 3 months.
I Will NEVER stay or recommend this hotel. Never had any problems with my dogs at other Best Westerns.

Room Tip: If you ever need to book a room with pets, do not allow anyone but yourself to book it. Always menti...

Really shocked to read your review, first time i have heard of this complaint, member of staff on duty must of been having a really bad day as normally he is so polite trip comments will show this. However your points will be looked into and reviewed and corrective action taken.
Dogs are more than welcome so long as on best behaviour and only certain rooms are allocated for dogs as some people may have allergies . Many thanks for letting us know your thoughts.

We stayed at the derwent manor on 17th November with a group of friends. We had a lovely stay which was only spoilt by the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the staff room opposite our room (Room 125) it wasn't nice especially as it is a non smoking hotel - 1 rule for guests and another rule for staff! That said everything was great although the bathrooms are a little dated and need to be updated as well as the tv's which are so low and so old!

Room Tip: Try ask for room125,

Comments noted but certainly NO SMOKING applies to all staff and guests must smoke outside only, But will take your negative comment in the positive way it is meant, from the organiser know your party had a great time.
